I've a japanese Wii.. chipped up with an Argon and as new (had it since Jan and maybe played it for 2 hours)... Comes with 1 Wiimote and 1 nunchuck, all standard accessories as well as a 4gb SD memory card (sealed), Gamecube controller and a Nintendo Wii bag.

The screen menu is in Japanese but this does not effect anything. The chip install itself cost £100. I also have a copy of 'freeloader' which assists me to get WiiFit to play.

My asking price is £220. If you're interested please let me know.

Er, I heard the Argon chip dont upgrade/update well at all.

£100 for a chip....

And its Japanese, so even cheaper...

He means the install cost £100.. I.e. the job of actually soldering it to the board. Definitely requires skill with a soldering iron.

A few months ago they were more like £55 each (unfitted). But I guess it depends where you got it from.

Intrested in both.

Sorry but the thoughts of a Japanese Wii dont sound good, and I replyied to you and nothing.

Sorry

Guys, please... for starters we're talking about different things. The D2C chipset is found in all Wiis bought within the last 9 months... if your Wii can take a WiiKey then this is quite an old console.

Secondly, the Argon retails for about £37 and you can get this chip installed as of today for a total of £80 (£37+£43)... no less!

The Japanese console is sought after as it doesn't require patches and work arounds to get the US or Jap games to work...

Thirdly, I'm not taking offers! I want £220 + postage + pp fees ... the console is as new, comes with a £20 4gb memory card, a £8 GC controller, £8 for the HD cable plus the bag which was £25.... Even my maths brings this total package to over £300.

PAL WiiFit works fine hence 'modded console' .. The reason why someone may be interested in a jap console is because you can get the NTSC version of games that have blood and stuff and don't have to worry about patching, etc.

I'd personally get the PAL console with the WiiKey if it's still on offer for £200.

Any help or questions just shout.

Well I am torn between yours and Reflex's.

As it would be nice to have one with a chip like Argon and nearly new but then agian, for £200 I still get a modded Wii lol.

Just depends on its age...

Well the only part that's really at risk in an older console is the laser which can be replaced easily and cheaply. I wouldnt go for a Jap Wii - check out the compatibility of PAL games on a Jap Wii here;

http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/index.php/Wii_Region_Patcher_Compatibility_List:_NTSC-J

US NTSC games are ok, scroll down to see PAL to NTSC-J.

Listen, my console is a great deal only if you prepared to download USA games.. if you want PAL then go for an old console with WiiKey or alike.

I use Freeloader to boot PAL games with no dramas.. other need to be patched.. I can't be bothered with downloading games.

If the laser does go I think you'll be up for around £40 to have it replaced and calibrated... ask around for a quote... If the console is old but hardly used and then gets a chip put in fine but if it's had the **** played out of with copies disks then it's likely to not last as long as you'd expect it to if it was only playing originals.

Chris

P.S. If you're going to buy a modded console it's highly unlikely that you'll ever bother buying games again (apart from WiiFit which works anyway)

P.P.S. Oh and regarding the compatibility list I think you'd be more interested in the top half of bacons link where it states the NTSC-U to NTSC-J... tonnes more games come out in the states and japan..... Check the compatibility of NTSC games you can play on your chipped PAL machine http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/index.php/Wii_Region_Patcher_Compatibility_List:_PAL

why would he want to use a freeloader to boot pal games? it just seems crazy to buy not only a jap console for a price similar to pal, but also a butchered one.

get a pal (not nessicarilly mine, this is just advice), and patch any ntsc images you must run (but most are released on pal first anyway).

Obviously didn't read my post. My wii is for a die hard fan... The only game that has come out first on PAL is Mario Kart.. Plenty of NTSC games simply won't work on a PAL machine even after being patched.

I know if sounds complex but it's not the difficult to comprehend... Anyhows, I'm not selling my Wii no more as I think it gonna cause more hassles then it's worth and no one appreciates or understands the deal.

I'd grab the PAL whilst it's about. Don't pay more then £200 for a PAL wii with a WiiKey... Nacider has the best offer of them all.

?? What do you mean by butchered??
#24
mate no offence but dont feed him dribble. the dude had his motherboard replaced.

And before you ask what dribble, you've been full of rubbsih - £100 for a chip, £20 for a memory card worth half that, and now recommending buying a wii with a replaced motherboard over a normal wii...
#25
Reflex, how old is yours?

And Gimp, if you dont mind, I am still intrested in yours as aslong as it plays online and that, I dont mind, I have experienced with the 360, alot of games come out NTSC anyway, so less amount of patching needed!
#26
Mine is about a year? i dont play it though - probably been on 5 times :-)

bud dunno what you're on about.. here is a picture of the modchip that was installed..

it cost £100 back in January and like I stated you can get this same mod here in london now for £80... The memory card cost me £20 and it's 4gb HCSD.. not sure what they're worth now.

Jap console £160, 4gb memory card £10, HD cable £5, nintendo bag, £15, GC controller £5, Chip installed (depreciated) £60. Still adds to £255.

Let do your math... 9 month old console... £160 + modchip = £240... £80 for you to install a chip? I should have got you to do mine :whistling:

If I was to sell my console just basic (console all accessories that it comes with normally - part from WiiSports) then I'd only expect £190 (including the chip installed).

As for the Jap console with a PAL motherboard.. this is fine and I don't think this should be of concern... it either works or it doesn't.

Reflex please stop commenting or starting your posts with 'Don't mean to offend' coz you're p*ssing me right off everytime you comment! I seem to have to explain everything to you like a child and it's not even your post!

all i was pointing out is there is no point in him buying a jap or console that has had its motherboard replaced - its just asking for trouble.

with regards to the above comment, take a look in the mirror.

anyway, Kzeove you are on my MSN now so if you want to buy, let me know, or PM. I won't dignify this joker by carrying on here.

dude? LOL kk.

I am a female. My wii is in perfect condition. And a new motherboard has had no problems what so ever, the Jap boards had alot of problems with them. The pal is in perfect condition.
Its basically a brand new Wii exept it has the Japanese case.
#30
riiiight. so why was the motherboard swapped? and why would someone buy a console half jap, half pal?
#31
Hi there,

I have a modded Wii (Brand New & boxed) with D2Pro chip.

£250 (pick up chester or postage on top - usually around £10-£20)

Ebay username jingopoppy.

Link to feedback - http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayIS...:feedback:3:uk

Cheers

Get a UK wii - from tesco's or whatever. Then buy a 'wii-clip' (google, maybe ebay) - open your wii, chip it yourself (no soldering, just 'clip' it onto the motherboard). Sorted... if you need help finding a wii-clip I may be able to get one for you for around £45 inc the chip pre-soldered to the clip.
