I am trying to build a collection up of old English banknotes so if you have any in good condition please let me know.
Especially after a white five pound note, any condition considered for this one....cheers.

I will expect a certain amount of joke offers......

What are you offering for such things? I have a genuine white fiver, also the Mauve 10/-, Lion & Key £5 most of the £1's and most other £5's and 10/-'s

All notes are Mint Unc except teh white fiver which is in VG++ cond with just light fold marks.

If your offering sensible things/prices, I will message you and we can exchange photos / scans of the notes your interested in.

still retains in monetary value though...so effectively dealing in currency ;)

Are old Bank of England notes worthless?
No; all Bank of England notes retain their face value for all time. If your local bank, building society or Post Office is not willing to accept these notes then they can be exchanged with the Bank of England in London.

Hi, thanks for replying. Its very difficult to offer prices for banknotes you cannot see. I bought a white fiver from ebay from a description which turned out to be less than accurate so I was hoping for more luck here. If you know what a sensible price for your items are just let me know and I will take it from there. thanks again

Just to make a point about 'dealing' with currency, it would be right and proper to prevent people from dealing in currency where you would profit from buying at one price and reselling at a higher one. Also to prevent money laundering. Paying maybe ten pounds for a five pound note that monetary value is five pounds (in a bank) is hardly dealing in currency.

My white fiver I would sell for £150 but I will scan it in very high resolution so you can see what your getting first. the Lion & Keys Brittania £5 I would sell for £50.

Let me know if these are the ballparks your happy with and I will get them out of the cabinet...

Thanks Andi but these will be a bit to much for me at present.
I have seen the variation in prices for these items and as I am just starting I am still not aware of what would command a higher price than another.
thanks anyway

Apologies mosskeeto, whilst the banknotes are no longer in circulation they do still retain a value with the Bank Of England and after a review by the Admin Team unfortunately we are closing the thread as it would fall under 'Currency / money exchange' on the prohibited item list in the trade forum rules. Thread closed.
