I'd check your facts first fella.. I bought both cables the other week from Poundland

The poundland deal is irrelevant from what I understand as the OP is looking for the COMPONENT Cables not the COMPOSITE Cable.

Thats an AUDIO cable! Get your facts correct yourself. COMPONENT (video) cable. Tsk! some people :-D you will NEVER get a iPhone video cable for £1 (not one that will work with all firmwares). As poster above... Poundland deal is not what he's asked for.

This will also act as a Composite Video Cable (Yellow video, Red & White Audio), there isn't anything special about the metal in a video cable compared to the metal in an audio cable. However the OP states in his title he is looking for the Component Video Cable (Red, Green & Blue Video, Red & White Audio).

So the lead mentioned is not appropriate for the required application.

If however the OP intended on saying Composite rather than Component, then this lead will do the job.

The poundland one will NOT play video though. It may have all 3 cables (red, white, yellow), but only geniune cables have the correct chip to play video. You get the infamous "This is not a geniue apple product" if you try with a non-apple cable. I know, I have about 3 of the fakes and 1 geniune. I'm an apple developer and I've tried many non-apple ones. Soon as you put on firmware 3.12+, your cable will fail.

The Poundland link says its audio even though it has a yellow (usually for video). Thats because the yellow simply allows you to put it into a the TV so it registers as a signal and allows you can listen to audio. You'll not get a picture.

I believe you can put on a bit of software to override the block... so technically, my bad too :) Not sure about the poundland cable, but it will work on the DealExtreme cables. Just typical of Apple to block standard cables... so they can charge 10x the cost for effectively the same thing. :D

Yeh some technicalities above, don't think the poundland cable works with iphones but perfect for ipods. works with my ipod classic, watch all my videos through TVs fine, great for £1!
