Wanted: Bike rack

I realise it's a bit of a long shot, but does anyone have a bike rack sat in their garage going to waste, please?

My 9 year old daughter has organised a sponsored cycle ride from Leeds to Liverpool in aid of our local hospice.

130 miles isn't a great distance for proper cyclists but this is along the canal towpath which is mainly rutted boggy grassland.

... and it's causing me a logistical headache.

We are looking for a rack that will ideally fit 4 bikes but 3 at push as my son's will fit in the boot.

Someone has offered to lend us a 3 bike rack which is great but I'd be happy to buy a 4 bike one.

We are in the North West, but as long as the rack can fold up I am sure postage won't be astronomical.

Details of the charity ride are at http://www.justgiving.com/georgiacross

Thanks

A week or two ago I bought from Fleabay Item number: 250453397486 Will not be used again for a long time, so I was going to re-sell. Only used last week for 2 bikes, but can hold three. Folds up flat, as it's in my boot currently. Make me an offer around £50 and I'll send it to you.

Doubt you'll find a 4-bike strap-on rack anywhere. You're pushing it with 3 tbh as its a lot of weight hanging off your boot lid.

You got a tow-bar by any chance?

Kyalion - many thanks, but ideally looking for a 4 bike rack.

teambintip, thanks for the advice - hopefully as 2 of the bikes are children's weight won't be as bad.

We have a towbar on one of the cars but not the other.

I must admit I like the look of the bike racks that fit directly onto the towbar.

where in the NW are you? I've got a brand new boxed rack that is similar to the one above pictured, could do it for £35 and if you're close to manchester or halifax I could even deliver it for you!

No probs. None of the reputable rack makers I can think of just now (I'm in the trade) do a 4 bike strap-on rack as its not really safe.

Go for a towball-mounted one and you'll be able to find a solid and secure 4 bike model that won't scratch your car, or stop you opening the boot when its attached

http://www.pendle-************/shopping/Tow-Ball-Mounting-4-Bike-Rack.php< Good piece of kit

Hi Katya, we did our bike ride in summer but are still looking for a decent 4 bike rack.

What is yours please?
