Wanted: CD Player for Ford Fiesta

Just bought a little run around. A 10 year old Ford Fiesta.
Got myself a bargain! Only thing is, its only got a tape player/radio.
and to top it off it needs a code, which the old owner doesnt have.
so instead of paying for a new code, i think i would like to spend my money on a cd player.

Anyone got one to spare? nothing fancy needed.

thanks in advance

craig.

it looks nice. could go to £40 it. will it fit my car?
#7
hmmn, what about 40 plus postage... will almost certainly fit your car- unless it's a more modern fiesta with the odd ford-sized stereo:

in which case you need a £10 adaptor plate too. As you can see from the pic of it in my Megane CC I needed a plate to go around the outside of it (er, which I never got round to buying!) get them from ebay or halfords.
Will post a few more pics tomorrow for you. and cost up postage.

Nice unit jizzm- but don't forget, no dealing by pm- must be done in the thread as per the rules ;) so that buyer and seller are both covered- although I can personally vouch for ya having been very happy with the ionizer I recently bought from you!!

It is the odd sized stereo. so an adaptor plate would be needed.

billyX - if you can go to £40 delivered ill go for it, pay today.

Well, it weighs just over 2kg so first class recorded would be £7.95 and standard parcels would be an unbelieveable £8.25, so the lowest i'd go to would be £45 by b/t. If that's too much you've got a hell of a lot of others offered here- loads of choice!
btw heres what the adaptor looks like-

you can install any DIN stereo without it, it just tidys up the install and makes the stereo a bit more stable in the dash.

Marsland, I haven't long put a CD player into my Ford to replace the radio/tape deck and a couple of tips for ya if you don't know:-

- In the meantime, if you just google "ford fiesta radio codes" or similar you'll find loads of forums where you can get the code you need for nothing off kind people (instead of £10 at a garage/dealer) or just join and post requesting yours like I did and someone gave me the right code. You'll need the make of the radio/tape deck and some number off the chassis (usually on the little metal plate screwed onto the inside of the bonnet/driver door). Radio for free in the meantime instead of silence!

- If you do need a fascia adaptor (most ford radio/tape decks are double the size of other ones and CD players) then get it off ebay - I got mine for about £6, the exact same one is £19.99 in Halfords. Plenty of little ebay shops do them.

- You may need an ISO adaptor wire thingy to get the wires into the back of the CD player, unless you're good with wiring. Again I got mine off ebay for about £2, they're over £15 in Halfords, or I noticed Maplins do them for a couple of quid too.

Hope that helps, Andy

BillyX - thanks, ill leave just now, might get back intouch in the future.

Or if he needs the code quickly just for a stopgap he can PM me his serial number from the stereo (Mxxxx) and i'll send him the code;-)

Regarding the fascia adaptor, i'm led to believe they cost less than £10 direct from Ford:thumbsup:

Thanks Shengis, will do.
where will i find the serial number??

Get a wire coat hanger and slip it in the holes either side of the stereo, then pull it out. The S/N is on a big sticker on top of the unit:thumbsup:

ok ill try and get it now. wire coat hanger at the ready!

Ah yeah that's what what I meant, the Mxxxxxxxx serial number. Where is it you get the codes from Shengis if you don't mind me asking? One of the program things with them all in? Save me googling forums again if I need it again in the future,

Didn't know you could get the fascia's direct from Ford either, sounds a better option then 3rd party then as mine's a little off-colour to the dash.

Good luck with the wire-hangers, the most annoyingly fiddly thing ever! You can get radio removal keys from Maplin for about £2 I think if you couldn't manage it like me....:?

I'd deffo still get a CD player any in any case, Ford built-in radio's aren't the best!
