WANTED: Cheap 60 Hz compatible TV

I bought my son the Xbox 360 for Xmas, but it appears his TV doesn't support 60Hz and as a result, some of his games are in black and white.

Therefore I need something for him to play his games on, as cheap as possible really and no smaller than 19 or 20 inch screen I suppose.

Any help out there, either from private sale or a link to a retailer?

Thanks for the post traf :) This is more of a Deal Request, you might have better luck finding one by posting in that forum too.

Is his TV very old? Only the usual picture on most CRT's is 50Hz and I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem.

No it shouldnt be a problem at all. Gears of War is the only game that doesn't support 50Hz as far as I know.

Try changing the display settings on the 360 in the System tab (on the dashboard when not playing a game). It's most probably set to display 60hz.

If not, the only other thing I can think of that would do this is trying to play PAL games on an NTSC tv or vice versa.

The ex-catalouge shop is always a good bet. I picked up a new 20" Tv for £30

i got a 28inch wide screen for sale 1yr old, but pick up only as posting would cost a bomd lol

I think there's some confusion here, so here goes.

The Xbox is standard UK issue: it's from Argos!
His Tv is about 2 yrs old, also from Argos, it's a 50 Hz Hitachi.

The 50 hz games play fine, the 60 Hz ones are in black and white after changing the Xbox profile to PAL 60.

Thus I need a 60 Hz compatible TV to play all the games on: yes or no?

I expect you've looked at stuff like this: http://www.xbox.com/en-AU/support/xbox360/console/troubleshootingFAQgames.htm

But there might be more info if you have a look around.

Yes, I've seen that.
I now realise it's a new 60 Hz compatible telly I need.
I now need to find a cheap one.

Next step up from 50Hz CRT is 100Hz I think, unless you go for an LCD as I don't think there's an in between choice in CRT.

About how much is your budget limited too?
