I am after a cheap desktop PC which can run CounterStrike 1.6 quite comfortably. Looking to pay as little as possible.

No monitor required.

Looking for somethign a bit cheaper.

where are u based?

What's your present PC spec? Does it have an AGP / PCI-e graphics slot? An inexpensive graphics card upgrade (from eBay for example) could be all you need? Or, are you specifically looking for a complete PC?
#6
Whole comp. My computer died on me and I now have a laptop but it cant handle games like CS.

I have a harddrive and some PC3200 ram but thats it.
#7
Do you mean ALL the components, except hard disk & RAM, were damaged?
#8
I have a Dell that I'm selling. I live in York but I could pack and post if the price is right.
I don't know what spec you require fot this game but this is what my PC has.

2.8 Ghz Intel Cleron
512 Mb Ram
80Gb (7200rpm) hard drive

17" Flat Panel Monitor as well

Is this of any interest to you?
#9
Bane17, if you cannot repair/upgrade your PC, have a look at his Dell Vostro 400* for £205 delivered (around £198 with 5% Quidco cashback), & add a PCI-E (not AGP) graphics card for £20 off eBay (e.g. see item 160210032520 - XFX 6600 for £17 delivered). Total cost £215.

* Changes to make to get it at this price:
- 1Yr Basic Warranty
- No 19" monitor

And some additional changes you may like to make:
- At no extra cost: change to WinXP Home for better compatibility(?) & less memory requirement (unfortunately you cannot add your PC3200 RAM to this system as it takes newer DDR2 modules)
- For £11.75 extra: change optical drive to 16x DVD +/- RW Drive

steliz, what graphics card do you have in there? And, how much are you selling it for please? Btw, you'll have to do this deal through the appropriate For Sale/Trade forum (edit: sorry, you are in the appropriate forum!)

No problem Bane17.

You didn't answer my question: 'Do you mean ALL the components, except hard disk & RAM, were damaged?'

Also, what has happened to the case, PSU & optical drive(s)? The more you could tell us about the 'dead' system the better - you may not even have to buy another PC, as it may be easily repaired.

beauchampy, not sure you're components will be up to the task, but I could be wrong. Bane17, will still need more bits to make a complete PC.

Apologies, I would be willing to accept £200 for this (including postage within UK).

I'm not sure what the graphics set up is, I will check tonight when I get home. I do know it has 5.1 sound card fitted.

Rayman - should I be starting a separate thread for this as the OP doesn't seem interested?

Well...in all honesty I'm not sure what has gone on it. I think the mobo and maybe the power supply but I am unsure and don't know how to troubleshoot.

I've sold my GFX card on but if I can replace bits and get it working for cheap again then that would be great.

I have a 1.6GHZ Celron with DVD/RW 1GB Ram i think 128 bit Graphics and 80GB HDD Don't know how much £130?
#17
I have an Acer PC for sale, let me know if you want the spec - i will get it tonight
#18
I am interested in specs and prices of all machines. Mainly CPU, RAM and GFX card.
#19
I have a 2.2 Ghz AMD
768 Mb DDR2 Ram
2 x 80 Gig HD's, 1 x 40 gig
DVD drive (doubles up as a CD RW)
On board sound as well as a 5.1 PCI Sound Card
Asus M2R32-MVP MoBo
500w PSU
New case including 2 led adjustable fans, CPU, HD and system temperature monitor
4 x USB PCI hub as well as the 6 normal USB ports
Windows XP

Was all built by myself for use until I could afford a quad core CPU and now is just sitting in my loft unused (minus the HD's and DVD Drive everything is under2 months old), i'm not sure of a valuation so make me an offer you feel is fair and we'll go from there

Yes that's fine to start your own FS thread.

got a amd sempron 3000+ with 70gb hdd and a gfx card (can't remember it for the life of me, it's a ati radeon though) and about a gig of ram.

I used to play cs 1.6 on it, as well as Cs:s and WoW and 1.6 worked fine, while wow and source struggled a little.

Comes in one of them cool looking see through cases, but the front flap has fallen off, still got it though.

Looking for about £100, pick up only however.

Can throw in a mouse and keyboard if you need, keyboard came with the computer and is pretty dirty and cheap, but works!

If you can find out the gfx card and get back to me that would be great,

In that case, you're likely to waste a lot of time & money figuring it out & fixing it.

I'd go for the excellent value Dell PC (with graphics card from eBay) I posted earlier - unless someone can come up with a very competitive offer for their secondhand stuff. Unfortunately, I've not seen any so far. Starscream's evaluation of his PC is a bit on the high side I feel (£60-70 OK), & RedIron's isn't likely to be cheap.

will do, but would you be willing to pick up from central london? (Camden)

I think it's a Radeon 9550, i will double check now for you though.

RedIron wanted £200 but said it was negotiable - again much more than what I would like to pay.

The Dell is looking a bargain for that price but I really don't want to sepnd much with moving in to a new flat on Saturday imminent.

It's an ATI 9600 XT / 256MB, has DVI, VGA and TV OUT.

So the computer is altogether:

AMD Sempron 3000+
1gb Ram
70gb HDD
ATI 9600XT 256MB

I wouldn't go lower than 150 on my one, but you can build a new pc relatively cheap if you haven't considered that
#33
Do you have a rough budget in mind?

I have a load of PC parts and I can easily build you a PC for you in accordance with your budget.

I also live Bedford so not to far from you.

How much without the monitor?
What gfx card has it got?

Good offer sparkygeezer, but what kind of spec can you do & for how much?

kristianity77, what graphics card in there please, & type of RAM (DDR/DDR2)? Bale17's has mentioned he doesn't need a monitor....

Bale17, do you need an OS, as most haven't mentioned this?

Hi Crossbow,

I appreciate the help. I have both Vista and XP OS's so that is not an issue.
