Wanted: Cheap laptop for daughter's homework £100.00

My 8 year old daughter has saved her pocket money and is looking for a laptop for that can handle the usual things such as Word, Excel and obviously be hook upable to the internet.

It would be great if it was able to handle some form of image software like the cut down photoshop.

She's not into games (yet!!!) so it doesn't need to be too fast.

A decent sizes hard drive would be great to store vids and music.

She has saved £50 and I have said that I will match her savings, so something around the £100 mark would be great.

Thanks.

Hi, I've got a Dell Latitude PIII CPx 500.
It was my sisters, which she had at uni, so it's just done word processing & exel & publisher work.... all installed.
I've just done a clean out all her old work so all ready for a new user.
It has a modem and network card installed, has touchpad and finger mouse too, new battery last year too.
Only down side is the hard drive is only 12 or 15gb... but I only want £50, so you could buy a massive portable drive or a few usb pen drives with the change...

Here are some pics, It's as new, was sat in a uni room & only used when she wasn't in the nui comp room.

Hi Tommy, thanks for the offer.

Please do you haveany details of the machine as I am not very techie minded.

Which operating system is it and how large is the screen?

The reason the screen size is important is because my daughter has slight visual problems, so the larger - the better.

Wheer are you based please?

Thanks

How about one from www.bigpockets.co.uk I have ordered from them in the past with no issues..

http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/product.php?nav=227&product=SOLV056&title=IBM+T20+PIII+700+Laptop%2C+256Mb+Ram%2C+30Gb+HDD%2C+DVD-ROM%2C+Windows+XP+Pro

That one is £15 over your budget...

Or check out this page in general http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/cat.php?search=Laptops&nav=227

I paid £200 for a refurb from http://www.tier1online.com/

Or, you could get a Elonex new for £100... the new netbook.

Hi Tommy, thanks for the details

To be honest, I was hoping for something with a few more bits and pieces.

As I am pretty useless, techie wise and wouldn't be able to update it your laptop may not be suitable for Georgia.

It seems you won't have any problems selling it on here though.

I am no expert but you may have to open a new thread of your own. Not sure if mods will let you deal on someone else's thread, I don't mind at all and I guess bassman-uk has first refusal if he offers full asking price as he asked first.

Thanks, neil

Thanks JaRocks, they look quite decent but I know nothing about laptops, does anyone know which of the sub £140 ones at http://www.bigpockets.co.uk/cat.php?...aptops&nav=227 seem to be best value for money.

Thanks
