Hi all
can someone please help
the ps2 got knocked off the side the otherday
and now will not read any ps2 games
it has only ever has very light use and never stuggled reading a disc
now it will no read ps2 games either cd or dvd, but will read music cds
was going to give it away to nephews along with alod of games
it is modded with dsm2 i think its called
i have took it apart and took the laser out, cleaned it and put it back together
still no joy,
the laser lights up and moves along the track ,
so if some one can help with any ideas hat would be a great help
also if anyone has a working KHS 400C laser lying so i could test it
dont want to pay alot for one as im giving it away anyway
like i said it has hardly had any play at all so dont think it laser wear
also not getting the red screen of death just stays on the browser
and disc eventually stops spinning
cant remember if any message appears on the screen either
its a silver phat ps2 version 10 SCPH - 50003 (under serial number number there is a d inside a circle, apparently the d inside a circle on a 50003 means version 10 according to the web.
or if anyone local to leicester think they can have a look at it and think they can get it working please let me know,
many thanks

On of my neighbours used to have a PS2. I replaced the laser for him 3 times, over a 2 - 2.5 year period. Seems to be a common part to go wrong.

Don't remember about a red screen.

If I remember right it simply failed to recognise the game disks, constantly prompting for you to insert a disk (blue screen ¿ ?).

A new laser costs < £10, if you like the PS2 give it a try. On the other hand why not take the opportunity to sell off your games and buy a Xbox360 or PS3?

I have one, but its at a friends house as he was trying to install it for me and he couldnt get it working so either both the old laser broke and the new one broke during posting or the unit of mine is dead so a new ps2 would be great for me so would you sell it for a few quid?

it would need to be 100 % compatable
because if i tried one and didn't work
I wouldn't know if it's the original laser was faulty or the problem was something else
cheers anyway
