Wanted: cheap working laptop £100.00

I need to replace a laptop that I have broken, don't need anything fancy, just something around the 15inch size that works - the cheaper the better, ideally less than £100.

I don't care how good battery life is, as long as it works when plugged in.

It is to replace and old NEC laptop - about 4 years old, 40gig hd, 500mb ram and a crappy celeron processor running xp - something similar would be great.

Not looking for damaged ones, just an honest cheap laptop - any offers

I've got a HP with Celeron m 410, 1gb memery, 60gb hdd. 15.4" widescreen
It's not damaged as such but has a few faults, but doesn't affect it working, the screen has a small white line down the right side, as it's on the very edge it's not noticable a lot of the time, and one of the two clips for the lid has broken, battery isn't very good, would do for £100 posted, if interested I can take some pics.

See my earlier ad here, laptop is still available (didn't have time to put it up on eBay last weekend in the end):

Many pics of it (incl screen capture of specs) on this Photobucket album:

Same one with slower/lesser spec and same dead battery sold on eBay for £100 + P&P last week (search completed auctions for "755 C10"). Will do mine for £100 posted, PPGift preferred.

Sorry for taking so long to respond, just haven't really been near the computer for the past few days.

Thanks for the offer, but just a couple too many faults for me, good luck with your sale

Quite tempted by this one, but I see from your thread that there is no way that you'll post first, don't think I can risk sending £100 to someone with such low feedback (no offence intended at all - just being careful).

Sounds good, just a couple of questions, first the most important one - how much are you looking for?
Secondly, I've never mucked about with laptops - so what's the deal with installing a new hard drive - how easy is it to physically insatll it, do I need a certain type of drive and is it simply a case of putting a new empty drive in and running an os disk (think I've got a spare xp one somewhere) or is there more to it that that?

if you are in no hurry, i am awaiting a hdd this week. courier shows it in an irvine depot just now, but its hdnl and they deliver slow and in weird routes lol.
installing a hdd is pretty simple, and installing an os is relatively simple too. tho if you plan to use xp you would need a valid coa. i dont have discs to send with this but you are willing to wait, i could install vista back on to this (it doesnt like windows 7 btw, sound issues)
As it is, id take £105 delivered. It takes a 2.5" sata drive if you have one spare. Or if you want with a hdd and vista reinstalled, £115

I'm certainly interested if you could fit the hd and install vista and I'm not in any great hurry. I'm torn between this one and a couple of others that I've seen on ebay.
Is there any chance that you could post a couple of pics up?

Thanks for posting those so quickly

Any chance you'd go to £105 with the hd and vista?
If so I'd take it whenever you are ready.

Go on then, you've got yourself a deal
If you let me know when you get the hard drive sorted I'll pay you then if that's Ok, I can do paypal (gift) or bank transfer - which ever you prefer.

Understandable, and no offence taken. It's on eBay now anyway, sellerID is ambro25, currently still at £50 start with no reserve
