Wanted! Chip my Wii £60.00

Looking to get a D2PRO chip installed on my wii (its an LEH156 so too late for wiikey). I dont have a chip so that would have to be included in the service. The cheapest offer I have had is £60 so far so looking to better that. I'm located around the Glasgow area for delivery and pickup, but would also consider posting nationally (but it would have to be part of the price). would also need some kind of garuntee it wouldnt brick my console within a week.

any ideas?

you've not heard of it because it's just been released, and also because everyone here takes about two years to get up to date with hacking scenes.

It works perfectly. Opening the wii isn't hard either :) £45 is excellent for the full setup too.

So why add this chip?

What will it let me do?

wii chips are a bit hit and miss, best simplest solution for less wires to solder is the wasabi chip 9 or even 5 wires only

you can make copies of your games and use them instead of damaging your originals. some naughty people even download them off the internet and burn them onto disk without owning the original, but thats against the law
#10
A bit hit and miss? In what way, with which games it plays? That doesn't sound good, thought this would be the ideal solution otherwise?
banned#11
ive read about them and most people dont seem to have a problem. ive ordered one to give it a go. guess its worth £45

the company in the link provided also seem to do a good returns service, so if you cant get it working send it back, no harm done
#13
With the clip chip will you be able to just take it out and then the wii will work as normal again?
#14
ignore!

What? This is a d2ckey. The wiikey team make this, and what planet do you have to be on to think a wasabi is a better chip?

I'm an experienced modder. This solution is utterly solderless for £45. The shop solders it all together, ready for clipon installation.

It allows you to do alot more with your wii than play pirated games. The entire homebrew scene just opened up to the wii there. Emulators, media players, games and software tools... it's going to be an utterly jumping scene.

I bet none of you expect the wii to be much of a media player, but give it two months, and it'll make the 360, ps3 and original xbox look a bit undercooked in terms of watching movies.

The wii clip is getting a lot of good feedback over on the afterdawn forums and these guys know alot about modding Wii's.

agreed. afterdawn is the place to look for anything modding related. maxconsole isn't so bad either.

hmmm.. might be interested in getting this too.

was it simple to do ?
#22
Yeah just open up the case, clip the modchip in place and away u go!

This sounds like a great solution for the average noob - ie. me!

Looking on the link given they sell it with the d2key and also with the argon chip.

I have a Christmas 2007 Wii, can I use either one or do I need a specific model for my machine?

Thanks

i have an xmas 2007 wii and i used the d2ckey, but im not sure if thats enough for you to go by
#25
I believe you can use either but I bought the cheaper one and it works just fine!
banned#26
i think the only diff is that the argon can be updated, but i dont think its a simple task doing that anyway
#27
have you had any problems reading discs?
banned#28
about 20% of the time it says the disc couldnt be read, its just a matter of ejecting and putting back in and it works. it has never taken more than 3 attempts and it usually works first time. Evey game i have tried (around 18) work perfectly once loaded; no freezing or stopping at any point. Well worth the money and worth the negligible hassle
