You won't get the American version for that price mate, possibly the Asian one, but not US.

The Japanese edition has English voice-overs but the menus & subtitles are in Japanese.
The Asian (Singapore & Hong Kong) version has English & Chinese voice-overs, menus & instruction manual text.
The Asian (Korean) version has voice-overs in English as well as both English & Korean text & subtitles.
The North American version has an English voice-over, game prompts & user manual text.
The European version does not have a release date yet.

I think the Asian version will only let you play against other people who also use the Asian version as well and likewise with the North American edition so it is region locked in that respect like the original Resistance was.

I was thinking of asking the mrs for it for Christmas but I know it would irritate the crap out of me and I would just end up throwing it in the corner after a few hours.

Yes, there are dedicated servers for each territory meaning that you cannot play concurrently with any party not in your own local region. You also cannot share (or transfer) saved progress game files between games launched from Blu-ray discs from different regions.

You can, however, participate in multiplayer online matches in "Resistance: Fall of Man" with PS3 owners in other territories.

I'm not sure really, all I know is that when I had a Japanese PS3 and the UK copy of R:FOM, the online never worked and that was always the reason I was given as to why.

The game was different if played on a Japanese console because it automatically switched to conform to the local Computer Entertainment Rating Organization (CERO) video game ratings certification meaning that some of the blood effects were removed.

So maybe there was an issue with the configuration you had, but also I suspect this was probably addressed with later patches available for download. Who have you the reason you described? Did you contact Insomniac Games?

PS. I am aware we are moving away from the purpose of tocnai's thread now, so perhaps we should take this into the misc forum.

Sorry, tocnai.

I just looked around on the PlayStation forums and gamespot and stuff really, I never chased it up with Insomniac since I thought they would just tell me that I shouldn't have a foreign console in Europe anyway and in all honesty I wasn't really that bothered. I have a UK console now (since the JP one broke) and it seems to work fine.

Again, sorry Tocnai. :)
