Why does it need to have an am2 socket for your CPU outta curiosity?

If someone was selling a machine with a decent CPU etc, wouldn't you be interested?

I have a P4 i could sell if your interested? Its a Dell machine, not sure of exact spec, but can easily get it for you if you are genuinly interested?

Let me know.

Cheers.

it needs to have a am2 socket to make use of a cpu i've got here, the main reason i don't want to buy a good spec pc is money!! lol and cause i've got loads of parts here to upgrade an old one.
if your p4 can accept a am2 cpu (pretty sure it can't) then im intrested. thanks

Hi,

I wasn't meaning charging you lots for it, lol!

I was thinking more of £50 plus £10-£20 P+P or something.

I'll dig out the spec though, let you know, then up to you.

Cheers.

Ok mate, just booted it up.

Its a Dell Optiplex G260, and has the following spec:

* Pentium 4 - 2.4Ghz
* 512Mb RAM
* 40Gb HDD
* DVD-ROM
* Windows XP installed
(was formatted recently, so absolutly nothing else, i.e. no updates yet or nothing, although i could do all that for you if need be).

Wouldn't be supplying a monitor, possibly keyboard and mouse if need be, so can let me know if your interested.

Cheers.

sorry mate.. would only be looking to pay about 30-35 delivered max for one of these..any good?
#7
Sorry, but i'd hope to get £40 for it at lowest, plus P+P on top.

If you know of some cheap courier or something, then maybe we could sort something, but not for as low as £5 sorry. :-(

where are u ronald, maybe someone local is interested if OP isn't?

If you have an AM2 / X2 CPU & DDR2 RAM, then all you need is a motherboard, right?

Btw, what's the OPN (part number) - it'll be something like this ADA3200IAA4CW. Trying to determine what socket it is, unless you're sure.

no i would really like a whole setup but wouldn't mind it missing the cpu... the part number is ADO4200IAADO does the "4200" part mean it's a 4200 cpu? thanks
#12
Yes, it's a dual-core 4200 & AM2 socket - more details here.

I understand now about wanting a whole setup, & all the best with it :thumbsup:

Who me? Sorry, I've no kit to sell.

Was just trying to determine if OP only needed a suitable motherboard to go with his CPU & his other bits, & to make sure he knew his CPU socket in order to get the correct motherboard :thumbsup:
