WANTED: DJ Equipment

I'm looking to get into DJing and am looking for some kit to get me started.

I've read up on it all so I know what not to get. If anyone on this site has some half decent equipment laying around that they dont use anymore then perhaps they wouldnt mind selling it???

I live around the Romford area so anywhere near there would be great.

I have the DJ software on my laptop so I'm looking for a MIDI controller, an external sound card and an amp and some speakers altho amp and speakers arent as crucial as the MIDI controller and sound card at the moment.

I'm looking for some Turntables/CD Decks plus a mixer.

Hopefully someone will have something to offer me!!!

I have 2 mint condition Gemini direct drive decks.

They are about 2 years old, been boxed up since I started uni 18months ago.

I bought them when I tried to get into DJ'ng, very good decks for starting with as I've had no problems with them atall.

I will get the model number for you tomorrow, I can post them but expect them to cost around 20quid delivered :)
Ive got no equipment but plenty of vinyl for sale if your interested. Some house music mostly Trance, good starter collection if your interested..
Hi vialli,

Unfortunately all my DJ equipment is already sold, so I can't offer you that, but I've got a massive 500+ funky tech house vinyl collection that I'm looking at selling now that my dj'ing days are well behind me!

Willing to split the vinyl collection if there's only some there that you are interested in. All from around 1999-2003! Very good prices as I want to get rid. I'm in Colchester to, so not far away from you at all!

If you're interested, pm me your email address and I'll forward you the list via email.....as it's quite large!

All the best mate,

Tsinc, What sort of price are you looking at for your turntables?? And whereabouts do you live? If you're not that far away might be worth me picking them up.

D-Sousa and Gavtt I might possibly be interested once I've got some decks, not sure if I'm going to go down that route yet or the digital route.

Just out of interest tho, Gavtt what sort of price are you looking at for the lot?

Hi vialli,

I ended up putting the vinyl on here in the end, have a look at the post below!

But will email you the full list so you can see all the mixes, tracks, label info etc.

I mentioned in the post that I'd be looking at 1 or 2 pound per item.....but for the lot and considering there's some absolute classics in there I'd except £300.00.

That collection would make you a house dj right from the off LOL

Will send that email mate!
It all depends on if you want to go into traditional mixing, CD mixing or MP3 mixing....

Personally, I find using VirtualDJ or PCDJ on the laptop works well - plus you can run Karaoke too! :)

I'd recommend Behringer mixers as they have British EQ and effects - they even do a 2x250W stereo powered mixer for just shy of £200!

As for MIDI controllers, have a look at the DAC controllers on eBay... DAC2 or better still DAC3, both work with PCDJ and VirtualDJ.

The hercules controllers aren't too bad either
Just a note to add....

When I was DJ'ing I used vinyl and cd, the mp3 side of it has come along since I finished!

Personally I think there's room for all three in a set-up! But you can't forget vinyl, the buzz you get from mixing with vinyl is the best, it's proper!
Never used Vinyl myself, but that's mainly because I dont think I'm skillful enough for that! lol

I've got rhythm, but I was more into running Karaoke and Disco :D
I learnt to mix first of all using Pioneer CD decks actually, so my introduction was via cd! After learning that I moved onto the vinyl. I think doing it that way was an easier way to learn personally, but learning to mix properly takes alot of hard work and dedication! I used to get a buzz from it every day though, whether it was learning to mix, buying the tunes or playing gigs! The only thing to beware of is it's very addictive, nearest I've ever got to having a 'crack habit'! LOL
DigiGuru - You said you're into mp3 mixing, could you describe your setup for me plz? I'm VERY new to all this and just want to find out what I definitely need be a digital DJ. I have a laptop with one output so I'm guessing I will need a proper external soundcard, as well as a controller, amp and speakers??
I currently had a very basic setup:

Laptop with single output
An external hard drive for my MP3s
3+ Channel Mier (the software did the music mixing - the mixer was for mixing in the microphone inputs and adding effects)
2 Channel Amp (300W at times, 1.5KW for big gigs!)
2 Speakers (150W at times, full bose system for big gigs!)
2 wireless mics

Now with most DJ software, you can split the left and right decks output into the Line In and Line Out ports on your laptop, putting those into your mixer - but it kinda makes the software mixer redundant.

I didn't have a DAC controller or similar, I just used the mouse and keyboard shortcuts.
I live in Liverpool and Huddersfield, not sure how far away you are from there :)

Thats a link to the decks I am selling :)

Let me know if you are interested :)
MP3 Mixing can also be done via Turntables...

So if you want to go into a turntable setup, this can also be used for MP3 mixing.

Try looking for Final Scratch 1.5 - I use it and would recommend it.
