They don't have the latest edition on Amazon hun, which is why I thought someone may have it or stores, as they have the latest of products, wishing I had a windows pc now!

i know nothing about macs but do they have some way of emulating pc software (like wine for linux)?

You are thinking of VMware or Parallels, both paid for products.:)

ok, might not make much sense if you don't know about these things but....

you want to download virtualbox: http://www.virtualbox.org/ (it creates a virtual machine on your mac)

then you install xp on the virtual machine (you must have a LEGIT xp cd or iso)

then you can run your disc:thumbsup:

good luck

Think I have a xp cd, from my old laptop, however kinda lost on what to do, seem's kind of hard work just for a theory test

yea may not be quiet as straight foward as it seems...but it's always useful to have xp incase there's any software for it you want to use in the future. If you do decide to go down this route i'm sure there's hundreds of guides floating about. good luck on the test...i'm booking mine next week :)

Wine does exist for mac, btw. Though it won't be any faster than the virtualisation software mentioned in the thread.

Well I can't work it out, they had that one in whsmith and its 100% not suitable for Macs, the ones that are have it written on the front, so I'm slightly wary

It runs off DVD I believe, as in it isnt like MAC specific software that you install it just runs from the DVD like for example you can buy DVD quiz games and stuff, its the same format as those. So should be fine, Im also a MAC user, but I installed windows on my MAC which I would reccomend for when you get into spots were their isnt alot of software available. But I think what I posted would be suitable but dont buy it if you dont think it will work, but seems the other one your trying to find might be to hard to come by :( Hope I helped :)

Aww you have helped hun, but I'm after the one, where you don't just watch it all, actually one where you click the answers, then see what you got wrong.

On a new level, how would I go about getting Windows on my Mac for free? Cause then I'd obvz get any old one, and your right most games I loved don't play on this either :)

Sadly you cant do it for free :( (unless you did it with an illegal copy of windows, which you shouldnt) but if as you said in an earlier post you did have a copy of windows from your old laptop then you will be able to install that as MAC has an inbuilt piece of software which allows u to install windows onto it and then you can choose when you turn on your PC which to boot into. Also The DVD I suggested you do answer the questions and get told if you got them right or wrong at the end. As I said its like a DVD quiz you play at Xmas if you do play them at Xmas :/ lol so you will click the answers on your Mac screen. Mac specific software is hard to find for such a specific thing now a days :(

Ahh I get you now, well I checked and I have Vista home premium disk, would that work?
It's such a pain, having to split some of my hardware space up for one stupid thing, I'm tempted to lend someone's laptop that's windows!
Errr at xmas I play singstar lol used to play who wants to be a millionaire though :p
I'l have a read of the one u sent, may just get that anyway, cheers hun

Yeh the vista disk would work but as you say for this one thing may be better borrowing someones laptop even thought it will clearly give them alot of satisfaction that your laptop cant run it lol I took my theory test in 2007 and its a doddle, im sure you'd do fine without the DVD I never tried any of the practice stuff before and went and did mine and passed first time, obviously because Im a smarty pants :P

Pffft obviously, I love cars, knowing my luck, will fail on something pathetic! And the questions have gone up since then!
Apparantly there is a app for iphone, but dunno if it will be as good.
Get you clever clogs, well i'l pass first too, with higher marks

You have a macbook and an xp disc so just launch Bootcamp (applications > utilities > bootcamp) and you can install XP on your Macbook.
