Is the console all working? The one im repairing is the kids and I was tempted to "borrow" it to run linux on, but another console may be tempting:thumbsup:

Hia mate, I'm interested whats the model (Samsung, thomson etc) because the drive in my xbox will not read burnt disks very well (CD-R's , DVD-R's).

it is slightly faulty as in fact it has got dust in the controller socket so works sometimes and sometimes dosnt work, ive tried a new pad so isnt pad, how do i check what drive it has??

YOu'll need to open the XBOX.

All you have to do is take the torx screws out from under the bottom (you'll probably have to take the sticky feet and some of the warning stickers off.

Wrong info, well it isnt but its easier just to power up and press the eject button then compare the tray with the pictures below:

If it looks like a Thompson I would suggest checking the manufacturing date on the bottom of the XBOX. If it says 2005, then there is a good chance it isn't a Thompson, It'll be an Hitatchi-LG.

Open the XBOX up to be sure of what drive it is lol.
