WANTED - electric guitar (ESP, Fender, Gibson, etc) £200.00

I'm an intermediate guitar player and am looking for an electric guitar that is properly set up.

Not too fussed about make/model but haven't got a massive budget (max £200).

I play a lot of stuff from bands like Metallica, Trivium, Machine Head, Slayer, Children of Bodom so would require a guitar that is highly suited towards the heavy metal side of playing.

If you have anything or know of where I can get something decent within my budget then please let me know!

What about an ESP AX-50? I'm not that much of an expert when it comes to guitars but I have seen this one and it looks quite good.

Been thinking about selling my Maverick X-1 - its in Gun Metal so give it a google. It was used for this video http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=PjrWkiXcnGA which was on Scuzz and in the movie 'The Silencer'. Would probably want more than £200 though but let me know if your interested.

Thanks for the offer pal but £200 is my absolute maximum, depending on what I can get for my old guitar

np -can thoroughyl recommend Maverick or ESP though if you can find something in your budget. I have an ESP MH-250 and its by far the best guitar I've ever owned.
#17
I've seen quite a few older Ibanez RG550 series gong for about the £200 mark on the bay. As long as it's looked after it will last forever.

I use a RG1570 with a couple of Dimarzo pups and it's the most versatile fast playing guitars I ever owned, one of these however is going to cost a fair bit more.

I have a Stagg R500 I will let go if you're interested? Can also chuck in a 10watt amp too, and case and leads.

I have seen an ESP Ltd Edition AX-50 for around £150 - would this be a good choice? I had a ESP KH-202 Kirk Hammett replica last year but had to sell it as I needed the money. I do like the ESP's :-D

Can't speak for that specific model but I've yet to play a bad ESP guitar. If you've owned a KH-202 don't even consider stuff like the Squire or the Stagg because whilst they're great at what they were designed for (i.e. beginners guitars) against a quality instrument like ESP they will feel poor.

TBH at the price range you've got an Epiphone might fit the bill. The Gothic series had very EMG sounding pickups and could probably be picked up second hand in your price range. The SG in particular was very very good.

Do you possibly know of any links to specific models so I could make some comparisons?

I must admit, my ESP played like an absolute dream and I was heartbroken to let it go. I'm just after something that I can play fast on and with a set up that is easy to play heavy metal music .

Thats what our ryth guitarist started gigging with before moving up to an Ibanez. For the money its a great guitar BUT it won't live up to your ESP but then at £200 you can't really expect it to. Pickups are nice though although it did have a slightly wide fret board thinking back.

The matt gloss finish was awesome too!

Is this Jackson model a good guitar then and is it a competitive price? Have never played one of these before - only been used to ESP, Gibson, Dean and Fender!

Jackson make AWESOME guitars. I mean at the end of the day everything is down to personal preference so I could never say to you you WILL love this guitar. But personally my next guitar will be a jackson. Google for Speedtheorys Myspace and have a listen - they all use Jacksons (well they did last time we gigged with them). £200 for an ex demo Jackson is a bargain IMO.
#28
Go for the Jackson, good price for the spec (you may be able to barter) and suitable for your style of music.

Fantastic mate, I've bought it! Will leave you some rep in a sec for your detective work.

Now - just got to sell my other guitars to finance it..... :-D:-D

The Danelectros are all really good value, pickups pretty versatile, Jimmy Page played the DC 59, not bad for a guitar thats only 160 quid. otherwise, a squire affinity tele, or strat. The bullet strat is only 99 quid new. or the slightly more upmarket tele custom II, the custom comes with seymour duncan P90s which are apparently very good, that will cost 159 ish.

I would recommend the danelectro or tele custom 2, also look at the epiphone sgs and lps. but not the studios, or specials cos they're ****.

soz didnt see you'd already solved it.

No problem, thanks for your help nonetheless! I'm not trying to offload one of my old guitars here for anyone that may be interested:

I am also in bristol, I have a lImited run Ibanez RG350MDX, its a beautiful thing, fitted with a John Petrucci DiMarzio D-Sonic pup in the bridge, pro setup, extremely low action. If you can muster £250 its yours. Totterdown.

Regards.

Michael.
