Looking for a cheap external DVD drive, must be USB powered. Doesn't need to be mint, but does need to work properly and be cheap.

Anyone got one?

If you happen to have an IDE caddy / enclosure, then this would work. I have a caddy but need it for another drive

No I don't have anything suitable. I am only wanting the drive for installing OSX onto a netbook and it will probably never be used again hence why I don't really want to spend £30 odd quid for something to use once. Cheaper options from Hong Kong on ebay, but dont really want to wait the 2 weeks it normally takes to arrive.

Never mind. If you had been local I would have offered you a loan drive.

Try these, they convert the drive from your desktop mac/pc into USB.

You can install most operating systems from a usb pen drive. I've got a asus 4g surf and installed windows via a usb drive. If you'd like more details i can point you in the right direction?

Well, I have a USBSATA/ IDE caddy if you find a DVD drive to go in it, it's about 3 weeks old, if that, I used it for the DVD burner I bought, but then built a new PC, so the burner fits inside this one, so now it is no use to me.
It's on this thread

Drives I have lying around.

NEC DVD-ROM Model DV-5800B Nov 2002 NEC Rattles. May not be a good option could be a spring.

Thanks for the help people but my order for the Msi has just been cancelled so this will have to be put on hold for now.
