Ive seen a couple of faulty 360's on here for £10 today so was wondering if anybody in Liverpool or Manchester has got one for around the same price? looking to collect.

Also i want a Xbox 360 Hard Drive, looking to pay around £20 for a 20gb and around £40 for a 120gb drive. Looking for them be in Manchester or Liverpool but may pay for postage on these.

just chancing my luck on the faulty 360's. I looked on ebay and the hard drives are at between £20 and £35 so i'd be open to offers between that.

Where were the £10 faulty 360s? :-(
Best prices I've seen on 360 hard drives are £30 delivered buy-it-now on ebay for 20gb ones. Try one of those? Otherwise good luck getting one cheaper.

lol if a 120gig hardrive was £30 on ebay i would be buying them ands selling them to gamestation for £65, lol.
and a 360 fro £10 wow the case is worth more than that on its own

The asking prices i have asked were from how much cex were willing to pay so i just put that. I was expecting some offers over the price as i said "around". Also there were a couple of 360's yesterday that were £10. If anybody has any Xbox 360 hard drives tell me your best price and i will ask my cousin if the price is ok with him.

Are you serious? A DVD drive is worth £30 on its own. I'd take that if the OP isn't interested.

Is it? Actually thinking about it I need the DVD drive..

How much inc p&p would the motherboard and left over pieces be? Would i need a new key if i was to get another dvd drive?
#12
Umm I can do the board for 13.50 delivered. I'll find out the drive key so you can inject it into a new drive.

the drive would be worth £30 if its a benq or sammy as hitachi are poop

It's a hitachi. Personally I've had no problems with the apart from them being a little louder. Actually the hitachi plays a backup of GTA4 much better than the benq I used to have.

There's virtually no difference between the types of DVD drive used in the Xbox 360. It's hearsay left over from the days of the original Xbox when there was a huge difference in the drives - they used Thompson, Philips and Samsung drives and people ran into huge problems when they started modding them because the Thompson drive was incredibly poor quality and refused to read virtually any kind of burned disk. The Philips was only slightly better, but the Samsung played just about anything thrown at it which lead to Samsung drives being highly sought after.
Now the 360 had Samsung or Hitachi drives, with Benq and now Liteon being introduced later. I think it's because both the original and 360 have had Samsung drives, which were the best in the original, that you still hear 'Samsung is the best!' when in fact that's not necessarily true. The Samsung and Hitachi drives in the 360 actually have the same laser, so should be equally as good as the only differences would be drive mechanisms (which aren't hard to get right, and are virtually identical) and firmware (which is also going to be pretty much identical).
From my experience (repairing over 200 Xbox 360s) I would agree with baconsandwich - the Hitachi drive may be slightly louder (and even then probably no where near as loud as the 360's fans :x) but I've never seen one have any trouble reading disks that couldn't be fixed with a recalibrated or new laser. In fact I've had more faulty Samsung drives as they're prone to sticking (rubber bands get slack and prevent the tray from opening/closing so it's simply a case of replacing the rubber band). The only problem I ever had with a Hitachi drive that wouldn't read some disks turned out to be because it had an older version of Xtreme firmware on it that had a bug in it, as the Xtreme team admitted, and it was fixed in the next revision so I just updated the firmware.

So, the difference between the drives is negligible really, and they are all worth about the same amount and often go for £25-35 on eBay.

Can I have second dibs on the faulty motherboard please, baconsandwich? I've got several empty cases and spare DVD drives that I'm just going to have to throw out or sell on if I can't get motherboards to fill them.

well i have had nothing but problems with every hitachi i have had or a friend has had, they dont last as long as other drives, its not just cos of xxbox 1 its because they are inferior,i have only changed 1 samsung laser or drive and i have replaced laser or drive of hitachis about 15 times,so i go of my experince not anyone elses.

yuo been lucky with hitachi then as every modder i also know has the saem issues i have,i never used to do the rubber band trick it was easier just to leave a game in the console,it always worked.

anyways have a free bump and back on topic

Because if they are unopened you can send them back to M$ who wil repair them and send them back fro free and then you can sell them as working for twice the price

I like messing around with hardware and am looking to learn how to repair consoles as a hobby. Something that has always interested me. I think saying that every1 that is asking for faulty xbox 360's for cheap and then plan on sending them to microsoft to sell for double does not count for everybody looking to buy a faulty 360.
#21
Why not just buy from ebay ?? if you saw those prices
#22
No idea where you've seen em go for £10. Even on ebay the cheapest is about £25 & that doesn't even include postage (the auctions also haven't ended).
#23
The prices i saw on ebay were for about £30. I based my first estimate from cex on how much they bought them if you were to sell to them. I wanted to buy off here to build a FS/FT feedback as i havent bought from here yet. For the last time there was a couple of 360's on this forum for £10 not including postage which is why i said in Liverpool / Manchester so i could pick up instead as i only want one to mess about with and am not a pro at fixing them.

OK! perhaps a little harsh to say everybody wants to buy, repair and sell. Just 99% of people:thumbsup:

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with it, in fact I guess it's a little entrepreneurial, but they asked why the sudden interest and frankly I felt I answered the question.
