Please don't take what I'm about to say the wrong way, at the end of the day the decision is entirely up to you but as an ex-midwife I'd highly recommend you DON'T get one. There's a reason why it takes three years training to become a midwife, it's not something you can learn in an instruction booklet.

How will you know what is a normal heartbeat? How do you know you'll be able to find the heartbeat? Will you panic every single time you can't find the heartbeat, even though the most likely explanation will be you're not looking in the right place? How will you know it's not your heartbeat rather than baby's that your listening too?

If you're concerned about baby then you should call your midwife or the hospital, trying to self diagnose at home is never the best option, I personally believe these home dopplers do more harm than good.

i also have had problems in pregnancy ,when i was having my little boy i was going to buy one but my midwife talked me out of it the main reason being was that if it doesnt pick up your baby heartbeat because baby has moved or you cant find your babys heartbeat it will obviously make you more anxious and worried so i never actually bought one for that reason. however somebody that has used one might say it was the best thing they ever used, i suppose everyone feels different about them.
good luck enjoy your pregnancy :) xx

Hi. I had one when i was expecting my little boy and majority of the time i could hardly hear anything. After a chat with my midwife about them she said that you can't really go of them anyway for same reason as synderella posted. I think they are a nice thing to use with partner or with older siblings etc..I found playing music near my bum used to get him to wiggle more too.
Good Luck with your pregnancy x
