By the way you can get La Haine brand new from Play for £4.99 delivered:

http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/178789/La-Haine-10th-Anniversary-Edition/Product.html

Some fairly recent (good) films are Pan's Labyrinth (as suggested above), The Lives of Others, The Black Book and The Host.

If you've not seen them then Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources are great films! Another French film I really enjoyed was Angel-A (Luc Besson film I think), it stars the guy who worked in the greengrocers shop in Amelie.

Man Bites Dog is a great film, recommended if you like very dark humour in your films, if you don't then don't bother with it!

Also you should look out for a film called The Good The Bad And The Weird, it's a korean film that is due for release over here around June, while I haven't seen the film it looks brilliant from the clips I have watched.
