Wanted: Good PSU for my PC (550W plus)

I need a good quality PSU for my new PC system. Prefereably something with a high efficiency (80%+) and it must be able to handle a dual core / SLI setup.

As I will be running 2 GPUs I will also need it to have a minimum of 2 PCI-e connectors, aswell as a couple of SATA connectors.

Let me know what you've got!

What cards are you going to be running?

Not sure. I currently have an 8800 ultra but I've put it up for sale (on here) as it's a little too good for my requirements.

I'm looking to get something like an 8800 GT with the intention of adding another sometime in the future.

Someone must have one they don't want!

What is your spending limit?
#6
~£40 depending upon spec.
#7
i wouldn't recommend a second hand psu as a used psu loses efficiency over time when used and could lead to hardware problems at a later date.

i would suggest you spend £50 and get this with a 3 year manufacturers swap warranty

It's good for the price but allegedly it has issues under a high load. If you're a member of the AV forums you'll get free delivery from scan, the Hiper 580W is only £45.

I wouldn't recommend any dual card configuration on this budget though, something a bit more substantial would be better.

Thanks for the advice guys - maybe I should look for a new one. I guess when you have 2 GPUs and a dual core it's prob worth investing in a quality reliable PSU.

Mods please lock this thread! Thanks
