Wanted: Graphics Card Advice and maybe Graphics Card!

I'm wanting a little advice first off from you young computer whizz kids. At the moment I have an HP Pavillion a1609uk pc with the standard built in graphics. It has a vga output which goes to my pc monitor, but also has an s-video output aswell. I will be getting the Beko 32WLA520HD tv for xmas (aren't Mum's great?)
which I believe has S-video input, vga input and also hdmi input.
My querie is...... if I connect my pc to the tv useing an s-video cable whilst still connected to my pc monitor via vga, will both still work or does it have to be 1 or the other? Also, will it give me a decent enough picture through s-video?
Or would it be better for me to get a new pci-e graphics card with a dvi output and connect to my tv using a dvi to hdmi cable?
If the latter would be better, has anyone got 1?
Thanks for reading anyway.

thanks for that welshs1k but what settings would i use to choose whether to have the same on both screens or different stuff? also what would the picture quality be like using the s-video? it would go to a 32" lcd tv
thanks for your help anyway
#3
not 100% sure on quality i run a 19" lcd no problems from a 64mb gfx card lol

is your mother board agp or pci express? if its agp8X i have a few cards for sale that have dvi outputs
#4
it's pci express unfortunately!
#5
there cheap as chips mate lol
#6
I just havn't got a clue what I need though mate! So if I have a graphics card with vga & dvi outputs, I can output to my monitor and tv at the same time and choose whether to have the same on both screens or different? I'm guessing picture quality would be better through the dvi output anyway
not into pc gaming anyway, it will just be to watch films and stuff on the tv really and use it as a media centre really
#7
a 128 would do what you need IMHO dont need anythign special for dual monitor i have run a 16mb with dual lol
#8

will try svideo 1st though i think, probably get a new card after xmas

As mentioned to Donny via PM neither Svideo nor VGA will give a sufficient quality at that large size of 32 inch, with his screen he is more than likely going to have to connect via DVI to DVI or DVI to HDMI, depending on his screen resolution.

This will give you a full digital signal with no need to adjust the size or any other aspect on your screen due to the video card and monitor being able to communicate via this connection.

I do have an ASUS Ati Radeon for sale, it is an x600 pci-e and came out of the same pavilion case which wont fit anything much bigger than this due to it being microatx and also due to the positioning of the PSU power,

The x600 is silent in my system, it has 256mb built in memory, does have a fan so stays cool, is pci-e x16, and also plays all games like BF2 Need for Speed Carbon and others to a great performance level IMO.

If you are interested in this card, I can do it you for 35 inc, all the drivers are also readily available from HP ensuring full system compatibility. ;)

EDIT: As well as a DVI Connector the Video card also has Svideo and VGA i have used all at the same time in the past with no problems.
