pci or pci-e ?

U need to get somebody to open it up and see what slot types are free and also what height graphics card it will accept (as some desktops only take half-height cards.)
#3
Also IDE or SATA hard drive.

I have a 160gb SATA you can have for £16 delivered. I will run it through a disk checker to make sure all sectors are fine if your interested.

Ok, just had a look, and I have:

80gb Hitachi Deskstar IDE hard drive

PCI-E ATI Radeon HD2350 (Ran high quality video on my 40" screen for DVDs, video, web browsing and games (Oblivion, etc), though not a high end gaming card by any means) - Has TV-out and DVI outputs, but will include a DVI to VGA converter if needed.

Let me know if either are of use and we can fix a price.

need IDE harddrive and there is nothing else installed so any depth card should fit.

Was used for backup for my uni dissertation work from about Jan-March 2007, and was then used for data transfer for a further 2 days after that, so had relatively light use.

Will scan for bad sectors tonight.

Unless your gaming any graphics card should be able to support a HD monitor, even my little netbook with integrated intel can.
#13
i know it should be able to a certain extent, but its a card about 5 years old and is a low spec one anyway.
its fine but even when u put solitare on the screen starts freezing, scrabble too.

your netbook is prob alot better than the pc my mum is running and the tech these days is alot better.
and not any grpahics card can handle a HD monitor, prob ones these days yes but not 5 years ago
#14
My 4 year old one can do dual monitors, one at 1920*1080 + 1280*1024 fine. But anyway, just get an Nvidia 8400 for £30

Checked hard drive, not showing any bad sectors.

Cheers.
