1) goto www.dark-alex.org.
2) Download the latest version of his custom firmware.
3) Follow the "Read Me!" file that comes with it to the letter, downloading all the stuff you are asked for.
4) Enjoy custom firmware :)

Nice, simple and straight forward, hope that helps mate,

Mike..

Do you just want a tutorial, or do you want it put on your PSP?

There are people on HUKD that will do it for free. :)

it says you need 3.52 already on it before you can put 3.91 on it though :S

What does it say about 3.80 M33-5?

I haven't looked at the dark alex site, but I put 3.80 M33-5 on mine that had 2.80 on previously.

edit:
3.91 m33
I didn't know that there was one? :?
banned#7
you can go 1.5 to 3.52 mm3, then go up to 3.9 mm3. think i'll do that
banned#8
problem, i was previously using dev hook, and my system information is telling me that im 1.52. is that aproblem? its been so long i cant remember exactly what to do to get back to 1.5
banned#9
ok, basically i need to uninstall devhook 0.46 to get back to my original 1.5. can anyone give advice?
#10
do not use dev hook its rubbish compared

as your psp is already homebrewed (1.50) just format your mem stcik so you only have the original folders (PSP THEME MUSIC PICTURES ISO)

DOWNLOAD 3.90 official sony firmware
DOWNLOAD 3.90 M33-3

put these in PSP GAME folder (so open the memstick on your computer open the PSP folder and make a folder called GAME put the files in there)

disconnect your psp and go to the memstick over the game icon and install its that easy

also if your stuck following this go to www.pspiso.com

they will tell you EVERYTHING
banned#11
just to make sure, even with my memory card removed, my system information is showing 1.52. is this a problem? i think devhook may have done that
#12
if it shows 1.52 try to downgrade it just 1 more time (it cant hurt) and then you can jump to it i think but you can also ask any one on the forum at the website i provided i do however have a panoras battery so incase of anything going wrong i will fix it for you at no cost (except the cost of postage you pay for it to be sent and returned)
banned#13
it used to be 1.5 and used to be able to do all homebrew etc. i think devhook has flashed it or something, does anyone know how to flash back to 1.5 through devhook?
#14
Just make a Pandora battery and a memory stick and flash it. It doesn't matter what is on there now.

Or you can spend your time trying to do it the hard way.

Complete 2.00 to 1.50 Downgrader:
Download: http://www.zshare.net/download/560871907a40cd/

Note: Your virus scanner may give a 'false' alert about a PSP.Brick virus or trojan in one of the TIFF files.
Before the 2.00 downgrader was released there was a 'trojan' being spread that bricked PSPs when run.
It bricked the PSP by writing to the flash memory and erasing some important system files need to start the PSP.
The 2.00 downgrader 'writes' to the flash memory using a similar method so the anti-virus program thinks its the PSP Brick Trojan.
You can upgrade to Firmware 2.71 and use the 2.71 downgrader as an alternate way to downgrade if you want.

Downgrading Instructions:
1. Transfer any important data from your memory stick to your computer and then
format the memory stick using your PSP, its in the 'Settings -> System settings' menu.
Note: Formatting will erase all data from the memory stick.

2. Connect your PSP to your computer using a USB cable and make a USB Connection.

3. Right click the RAR file you downloaded earlier and choose 'Extract files...' from the menu and a new window will open.
If you don't have 'extract files...' on the menu then you don't have winrar installed. (Download link at the very top of this topic)

Select My Computer and then select the drive letter of your PSP and click "extract"
(My PSP memory stick drive letter is Removeable Disk (E:) but it might be a different letter on your computer)

Winrar will then unpack the files to your PSP Memory stick, this may take a minute or so.

Once its finished unpacking the files, Double click the 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon near the clock
Select the 'Sony PSP USB Device' and click 'stop', on the next window click 'Sony PSP USB Device' and click 'OK'
You should get the message 'This device can be safely removed from your computer', Click OK to this message.

4. Close the USB connection on your PSP (press 'O') and unplug the USB cable from your computer and your PSP.

5. Plug in AC adaptor and Open the 'Photo' Menu. This will launch the downgrader.
The downgrader will show some numbers and letters on the top of the screen, this means the downgrade worked.
Wait for one minute then turn off your PSP by holding the power button up for 4 seconds until it turns off.

6. Turn on your psp and go to the game menu and launch the 1.50 update boot.
7. Follow the instructions on updating to 1.50.
When the update reaches 99% it will show an error "The update failed... (ffffffff)"
This is normal, just hold the power switch up for 4 seconds until your PSP fully turns off.

8. Turn your PSP back on. You will get a corrupt settings error with a blue background.
Just press the "O" button and your PSP will restart with repaired settings.
your PSP should then go through the setup process again. (set date / time etc)

9. Check the "System Settings > System Information", you should have "Version 1.50"
10. Format your memory stick using your PSP after you've done the setup.

THEN install this

if it is actually at 1.52 then you can't just "downgrade it one more time" you will have to run a propper downgrader, such as the "generic 2.71 downgrader " (also available at D_A's site).
To see if it is at 1.50, try running the update for 3.53 m33, that wasy you will either get an error message (meaning you are on 1.52) or it will start to install.
T be perfectly honest it has been so long since I had to do a real cfw install without the aid of a battery it would be difficult to talk you through it, that is why I directed you to the instructions from D_A himself (all beit in a spanish-english way :)).
You should be able to grasp the way round it fairly easy, it is just that small problem of the 1.52, but what ever you do DON'T update past 2.71 oficial firmware, it becomes slightly harder to do the downgrade from there on out.

But if he does actually have 1.52 not 1.50 then he can't make the battery and memstick etc, but a valid point "the saint"

Don't tell him to use that 2.00 to 1.50 downgrader, it is far less safe than the 2.71 version!

You don't need to buy a battery, you can make one using your phat battery, and then return it to it's original state.

You should read the link given to pspiso.com given earlier.

Copy them to the ISO folder, and then simply select them from the Memory stick in the Game menu on the XMB.

is that root/psp/game/iso?

If you format your memory stick with the PSP, it will create some folders.

When you connect it to your computer via USB, one of these will be a folder named ISO, put the ISO's/CSO's directly in there.
#37
r just make the "iso" folder at the root of your MS, that will also work fine :P

Or, just send me the PSP and I'll do it for you, unless you happen to live near Ipswich, in which case I can just meet you in town and do it.

Mike..
