Looking for an Intel CPU for a new basic gaming rig. Nothing extreme but would prefer a wolfdale (45nm) core.

What have you got?

Hi thesis73, I've a E5200 you can have for £50 delivered, or £45 without the Intel HSF.

I have a Pentium D 2.8ghz CPU socket 775.
2 yrs or so old.
Would want about £20 delivered for it

Since when is a Pentium D a Wolfdale core :)?

If nothing better comes up I will consider your offer. Looking ideally for a 8XXX series.

OK, thanks for letting me know. I've been led to believe the GPU is much more important than the CPU in gaming, so I'd suggest to put your money towards getting a better GPU. The HD4850 you were offering to trade is no slouch & would make towards more than a 'basic gaming rig'. The E5200 is highly overclockable anyway, if you're into that sort of thing.

No idea why you chose to make an unnecessary sarcastic remark about TropicanaX's offer, & doesn't show you in good light. Apologise, move on & change your title to be more specific.

Had a E5200 and sold it last week, so looking for something faster either dual or quad core.

No sarcasm in my reply. Hope the smiley is clear.

I have a E6300 for sale if you're interested. It's a true Core 2 Duo based on the Conroe core as opposed to the Pentium Dual Core processors (stripped down Core 2 Duo) based on the Wolfdale core. It's never been overclocked. Asking for £50 :-)
#10
Thanks for the offer but don't think it will be any faster than my current E4600.

ive got a Q9550 and an e2180 im selling. £200 for the Q9550 £30 for the e2180 if youre interested!

how old is the 9550 and do you have the original receipt?
#13
would a e6600 be of any interest?

A Q instead of an E would have made it more interesting but I think it should be ok.:)

Has it been overclocked, price?

im not sure, was trying to find a price, but hard finding a stockist (that isnt a stupid price anyways) yeah well not a Q im afraid, still pushing out daisies! never been overclocked (wouldnt know what to do!). been kept in a cool case, so the cores are usually below 35°C. and always had the stock fan on it, since day one and never been removed.

Also the thing is id need to source a replacement pretty quick as well...but i hardly play games/do much that power intensive anymore, thus why id be willing to sell in favour of something slower.
As i use to do lots of conversion work, and encoding, alongside games, but got wii, ps3 and 360 now for that, and hardly do anything else power wise

There should be loads selling at the bay so you can make an offer ;-)

Thanks for the offer, but I am afraid I cannot afford this great CPU and I don't like to make silly offers ;-)

Decided to go for a Quad CPU.
#26
You still looking? If so, interested in a Q6600?

Saves me some hassle. Was going to offer my E8300 if I could sort out a price with jmase, but you want a quad now so that sorts that matter out for me.
