Wanted : iPhone

Looking for a iPhone. Need it to be unlocked/jailbroken, and to be complete and in Mint condition. Would also like to see pics.

Also, could anyone advise me on the risk of jailbroken iPhones, and what should be done and what shouldn't.

Thanks.

No risk with jailbroken phones, but I would give you a tip, only buy an unlocked/jailbroken phone if it has been updated to firmware 2.0 prior to unlocking. If not, then buy a locked one on 2.0 and unlock it yourself- it's very easy and risk free.

The reason I say this is an iPhone with firmware 2.0 has loads more features and makes it almost as good as 3G IMO. Plus I think if an iPhone is unlocked on a previous firmware e.g. 1.1.4, it can't be updated to 2.0.

i found the whole jailbroken iphone malarky a bit too confusing too. reports iv heard with my friends one where he had got his iphone jailbroken and put in a Voadphone SIM into it, Vodaphone found out and warned him not to continue using it or they would block his SIM. Personally i dont mind having just a standard iphone locked to 02 i mean it's a good network on pay as you go though on the contract if you calculated it altogther you'd be paying around £550 after contract is finished if not more!

Cool, thanks, well google ziphone, and just do your research 'cos unlocking them is really easy.

I'm also looking for an iphone, but I reckon the best bet is eBay at the moment and the prices will fall further when Apple sort out the stock crisis with the 3G version.

Well, I'm on o2 payg at the minute, I thought it had to be unlocked/jailbroken if you are not on a contract ?

What's the best thing for me to do, any more info would be much appreciated :)

As far as i'm aware, the first PAYG iphone will be released in time for the christmas period, that's the 3G one.

Would unlocking the iphone, void the warranty ?

Cheers

doing anything to it voids the warranty, but it is easy to put back to an original firmware so you can claim on the warranty.. unless the reason for needing to claim is that it no longer works then it would be hard to do i suppose. most non booting problems are easily fixed though.

bricking usually means the phone not booting, turning on and not doing anything, yes most of the problems that cause this can be easily fixed.

Hi guys, just to check, if someone bought the new 3G iphone, would any O2 sim work in it?

No I don't think so, because you get it activated with the sim you are paying the £45 a month or whatever for. So maybe you can do most things with it but you can only make calls on the activated sim. We will only know when someone tries it!
