Hi, been in contact with both the local shelter and vets, shelter wants 70quid, vets 90quid, too expensive, thank you though.
#4
I thought they were usually free from rescue centers

buying animals off the web is bad mkay

if you cant afford 70 squid how can you afford bills etc for kitten

rescue centers charge to raise funds and pay for treatment animal had and home visit etc

Thank you the wire, i said that 70quid was too expensive as after paying this i would have to pay 64 pound for 2 injections,55 pound to neuter and 20 pound to chip it.so if i can get a kitten for free off someone before they go to the shelter or vets, that would be great!

All the local shelters round here won't let them go till they've had all that done anyway to prevent anymore strays coming back.

That should be all settled before the cat leaves them else they are breaching there code of conduct for releasing the animals.

You want to check as that £70 is what that's for.........they are non profit charitable organisations.

You should go to the cats protection league, you only have to give a donation then and at least you will be giving a home to a cat that needs it. If i were you though, get your kitten insured, i never did with my cat and then she got ill and was too old to insure, now i have to fork out very expensive monthly bills as she is diabetic - she is worth it though ! :-D

Look here for info: http://www.cats.org.uk/homeacat/index.asp

Makes me want another cat !

Hi, thanks for everyones comments and advice, i've decided to get a cat, not a kitten, from the cats home in leigh, everything will already have baan done to the cat and it will only cost around 50quid, plus already litter trained!!! thanks again to everyone :)

Hope you enjoy him/her. :)

Great choice, our first two cats were from cats protection and they were not kittens, they were feral but after months of patience and love they became the friendliest and most loyal cats I have ever known. Cats given a second chance of homelife may take a little longer to settle but are usually well worth it in the end. Good luck :) Dont forget to post a pic when you have chosen.

Have a look at Destitute Animal Shelter in Bolton. A donation is required, usually about £20. They also have a voucher for reduced neutering costs. I've used them in the past, my recent cat being rescued as a kitten a few years back.
The animal shelter in Leigh has also provided one of my previous cats and is also recommended (although I do remember a bit of a "whispering campaign" against them a few years back).
I have a neighbour who was trying to find homes for kittens, I'm unsure how successful they have been. One of the kittens was a beautiful smoke grey, and if it wasn't for my other 3 cats I'd have been tempted.

My cats have certainly never forgotten it, unfortunately they seem to have convinced the dog and the rabbits that they are included in this!!
