probably beter to get a 8800gt as the 8800gts 640mb is the older 8800gts.... (lol - its nots based on G92 arcitec)

I know, but its easier Tim lol! Am toying with a 9800 x 2 setup my friends selling but i really don't need it! its not for games essentially, want to hook it to a spare 32" lcd (maybe 26) and play stuff at a decent res . . . .

Doesn't your card have 2 outputs?

Edit - Just re-read, apologies :)

Yes, dual SLI, but i really want to run the 26/32" screen for dvd or tv and another 22" monitor for the desktop apps, got a feeling the 8800gts may struggle . . . . am i wrong? advice more than welcome :)

dont know if it works but might have a 8800GT 512MB for £50 collection 55 posted

Well the more memory you have combined will certainly help for higher resolutions so SLI would be the most cost effective way to go. Just ensure your power supply is up to it and that your cooling is sufficient as SLI can get quite toasty :)

Thanks dude, but think its gotta be like for like to work in SLI setup, so 8800gts 640mb is pretty specific . . . decent price on the 8800gt though :)

Selling your current 8800 and then buying a 4850 would probably be the better thing to do...
#12
the 8800gts is a terrible card for SLI with many games giving a lower framerate than with a single card and some games refusing to run altogether ,Better off selling and getting a 4850 as previous poster said,
