Hi,

My friend's computer has broken down and I think either the CPU or the motherboard is faulty now.

So does anyone has the following items for sale? Typically an Intel Pentium 4, Celeron or AMD Durun, Athlon's mother board will support the DDR1 memory type.

Motherboard + I/O plate + CPU + CPU FAN, The motherboard needs to support DDR1 and IDE

Form factor: ATX or Micro ATX
Memory: Must support DDR1
Harddrive: IDE must be supported

Of course the item must in working order. I can pay around 35 pounds depending on item condition and processor speed, excluding delivery.

£40 delivered will get you a mobile Athlon XP2500+ and Abit NF7-s rev 2 motherboard.
The best of an old generation.

Also supplied with quality aftermarket heatsink and fan.

Thanks spobby and vaiopup for the quick reply!

I must agree with vaiopup that his set up is almost the best of the older generation. Does it come with a I/O BackPlate, vaiopup?

I will wait till tomorrow evening to see if there are any other offers. On the meantime, vaiopup do you have a pic for your mobo?

Hi Crossbow,

I think your set is on the top now - I suspect my friend's memory is only DDR 266 ish. So what is the memory you have there? And how much would you like for the mobo , cpu, HSF and the memory?

Sry spobby, I would probaby go with Crossbow's offer.

I will choose the offer tomorrow evening - so if you like, you could put up the CPU amd Motherboard model so that I can have a think then.

can send you a pentium 4 3.2 ht & a silent fan for 25 quid paypal gift for tomorrow, or for £35 i'll chuck you in foxconn agp motherboard which fits them both, don't have an i/o plate though, (it's used in my current build) and has twin ide + sata but i'm not sure if the sound on it works, although i think it was just my pc. please get back to me asap, as i need to order a graphics card, mine went today :@
#15
Humm you might be right - it was a Pentium 4 on his computer as well.

Anyway, Crossbow's offer is more attractive performance wise and noise wise.
#16
Hi moneysaverraver,

I think I will go with crossbow's offer as his is a complete solution.

Interesting, how much memory does it have? It is a cheaper option for me...

Cheers for the Picture!

Very Impressive! And you kept the original box as well. Will you send them in their original boxes?

If so I think I am not going to wait till tomorrow.

Apologies, my delayed response has taken away your 'not going to wait till tomorrow' option

Yes, I can send in the original boxes. Sending the CPU box is likely to increase postage (will need another bigger box), but that's my responsibility.

If you decide to buy my bundle, please let me know if you'd like me to install the new HSF (as I may not have any spare thermal compound to send you).

And give me a day to test. So I'll post Tuesday if you get back today (Monday).

--------------------------------------------------------------
Btw, I always try to retain original boxes so I can easily return items to retailer/manufacturer for warranty purposes. Or, to post out to buyers when not required any more.

Thanks for the offer Cluffy, I have decided to go with Crossbow's offer.

I think you should start a post selling your bundle cause it is very good in price.

:) I will take your bundle

Regarding the HSF, if you install it, will the mother board still fit the box?

OK, that's good :)

Yes, the installed HSF will still fit in the mobo box. The mobo & CPU boxes will then be placed in another larger box.

I'll pm you my details when I'm done testing, & we can take it from there.
#26
Cool. Please fit the new HSF and the CPU on the motherboard.

Since the CPU is inside and protected, I don't need the CPU case now - that saves you using a bigger box.

PM me after it is tested. What is the payment method u prefer, BT or Paypal ?

Have done so now.

I'd prefer PayPal gift please (your PP account is verified?)

Testing in progress. No problems at all so far - writing this message from a PC using your components. Shall test for a few more hours. Shall also send the latest motherboard drivers, DirectX 9, etc burnt to a fresh disk.

Please let me know what connectors your PSU has? The mobo requires the following power connectors: 20pin ATX main&4pin ATX 12v.
#28
20Pin one for sure, however I didn't check the 4 pin one when I left his house. His PSU is however bought last year or so, so I believe it has this 4 pin ATX connector.

To be safe, I don't know if you have the adaptor below?

Over the past few years, the 24pin variety has become standard, although some are 20+4pin. If it's the latter he's fine, as 20+4pin means that the connector is 'split' & can be used as either 20 or 24pin. But if it's a 24pin only, he'll need a 24pin to 20pin adapter cable.

Can you call & ask what connectors he has for both the 24/20pin & 4pin connectors? Thanks.
#30
Hummm I see, I didn't pay much attention to the change of Power Supply - My first PC is 386 then 486, and then Cyrix MediaGX. and Pentium III Tualatin... I guess that is why I am more used to 20 pins...

Then I used Pentium 4s and now I am using a dual core xeon. Must admit when I am using these CPUs they come pre-built with PSU so I don't need to pay attention to power connectors...

Ok back to the point, I will give him a call to ask about his PSU.
#31
Yep he has a 20 Pin and another 4 Pin connector that would do the job.

You are very kind

Unfortunately his CPU is a Pentium 4 so it won't fit your motherboard.

Thanks for the offer tho

P.S. Payment sent

Sorry, forgot to mention that I also included a cable adaptor like the one you posted yesterday - just to be on the safe side ;-)
