Looking for a chip for the wii. Want one of the cheapy clone ones for about a fiver? Just wondering if they only work on certain consoles etc?

Will provide the serial number if thats the case.

Thanks

(Usually the cheaper ones are Wiikey clones which i dont mind)

Dealextreme are probably cheapest, although you have to email them as they show out of stock due to the fact that paypal would ban them if they admit to selling them.
#2
So you can still actually purchase it from them?

Think its only the older consoles that the cheaper chip works on and the more recent consoles require the chip that has 35 wires. the market near me just puts a new CD drive on the wii which the chip has already been installed and they do it while you wait

Depends how old your wii is?

Get a wii clip m8, no soldering required! Got to http://xbox-entertainment.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=63_64, if you bought one in the last 12 months then more than likely you need a D2C but check you serial no.!

Just fitted a wasabi in mine, only 5 wires (I got a d2b cut leg wii) found it a bit daunting, not for the faint hearted! works lovely though, think the best option is the D29PRO with the latest firmware works on all wii's I think, low wire count, bought mine from http://www.console-chips.co.uk/

I know you sai you wanted to spend a fiver but for ease of fitting maybe go for one of these at £32

Obviously double check that one will work with your version of Wii but it seems so easy to install that i can't see how you can go wrong.

That seems a decent price. Is this the one where you can solder some wires to it in order to put in a disable modchip function? My serial number is LEH18277160 Will this work with it?

Can't find that serial listed as compatible with any modchips. Have a look yourself by doing a google for wii serial or similar.

Last post in this thread mentions a similar serial being D2C or D2C2 so you should be ok with a wii clip + chip

That should be a D2C which means it should work.

I just fitted a WiiClip into my brothers Wii which had the serial LEH183..... and its worked fine.

Emailed the people from the site osctime. They said i have to get this one

http://www.osctime.com/product_info.php?products_id=177

However it is also the most expensive one so im not entirely sure if they just want me to pay more money lol.

However someone on here said the cheaper one (£32) should work?
