Now that I've got the old PC I got given working ... I feel the lack of errr.... some modern technology......

Like USB and the Internet lol!

Also as the thing only has a measly 32mb of ram and the fact that I am going to and possibly want to install XP on the thing some more ram is needed..

Not essential but every little helps I could do with a faster cpu...

I'm asking on here before looking on ebay so I can help people get rid of old pc parts that need a good home rather than sitting in a cupboard or a box gathering dust.

Tim

Edit: I am going to install Windows 2000 on it but want to install XP too if possible lol..

correction to sentence above.

I've got two Athlon XP CPUs, an XP 1800+ and a 2000+, various SD RAM modules (between 32MB and 128MB, dotted in draws throughout the house), and a couple of spare Realtek & other-brand 10/100mbit nic kicking around in the spare room, and various IDE cables. It'd go for about £40+ altogether. £20 PaypalGifted, delivered?

Edit: Oh, and I'll throw in a copy of XP SP3 Home with one of my MSDN Subscriber serials as a freebie extra.

Half of that stuff would be a bit useless to me lol... I'd be interested in the ram but bear in mind I can get 2x 128mb sticks for £2.50 delivered off the bay so it needs to be very cheap lol... I'd also be interested in a ethernet NIC.

Well I've got Windows 2000 installed now - after a painful 2 hours of:

Hearing how dreadful old hald drives sound
Waiting for it to bloody finish! 2 hrs lol! (Probably a bit exagerated but it took an age lol!

It runs pretty well considering there is a measly 32mb of RAM within the system. Still I want more RAM as I'm guessing doing anything other than playing Pinball will slow the system down to a halt...

That and the interent is definitely needed lol!

Ah, a P4. I'll skip on it then, sorry. I was kinda hoping it might be a low-end member of the Core family of chips.
