Just check the maximum processor FSB your motherboard will handle. I upgraded to a 3.0ghz P4 thinking any socket 478 processor would do, but in fact my motherboard only allows FSB speeds of up to 400MT/s. The fastest 400MT/s P4 processor is 2.8 ghz, so I had to sell my 3.0 ghz and buy that instead. Your motherboard manufacturer should have a list of compatible processors on it's website.
