hi new to upgrading
i have a desktop case and looking for just a quad core board and processor preferre it to be 775 if possible, can anyone help or advise me a little.

check out the following places online for some idea of prices etc:

Unless you're going to overclock then maybe go for a p43 mobo, processor wise it depends what you're looking to do with your pc. e8400 is a dual core and rates very highly, the decent intel quads will set you back though.

I have seen this processor and board combination clocked to 3.5GHZ

E5200 must be the most cost efficient cpu i have come across. I am running it at 3.6Ghz, using a big heatsink (the z600) and no fans, does not seem to produce much heat either, got the voltage increased by 0.0625 or something.
