My graphics card has blown, so I need a replacement. Currently I have an ATI Radeon X600 (256Mb) with DVI / VGA / S-Video outputs using a PCI-Express slot. I'd like to get one with at least the same functionality, maybe more. The main use for the PC is as a media centre, so surfing, watching films etc. I really dont use it for gaming.

I don't mind new or second hand, as long as it's in good working condition.

Any advice on what would best suit my needs / offers would be much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

If Sach isn't interested - how much are you hoping to get for the 7800 gtx blunt?

I'm torn between going for the 8800 DX10 cards, or just getting a 7800 DX9 one for now until the 8 series drops in price.

Also Sach, the newer ATI 2400 or 2600 series might be useful to you - they come with DX10 support and High Def support so if you plan to move to Vista or anything in the future. They're around £50-60 delivered at overclockers I think.

Having looked on ebay, I should be able to get a new replacement for mine for around £30 inc delivery, so I guess that's my benchmark.

How old is yours etc and what were you hoping to get for it?

Hi - quick google shows these at around £300+ for a new one, so I think this is way out of my league and needs to be honest. I'm just after a cheapish replacement for my broken one, and possibly one that can handle HD content.

Thanks

Go for it Jpoku - I think this card is out of my budget and needs really.

Thanks for info on other ATI cards - I do like the idea of HD support, something that was lacking on my old X600. I'll have a look into these too.

Thanks for the offers and advice guys. I've gone with Jpoku's advice and purchased a 2600 Pro from Overclockers. It can be found here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-154-SP&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=938

I went for the 512Mb one as it was only £6 more than the 256Mb version.

Cheers again,
Sach

Not to hijack the thread - but I'm also interested in a PCIe card. Anything that's more powerful than a 9800 pro will do me fine :)

Also after 1/2gb of DDR2 400.

Cheers.
