Wanted: PSP Console (Xmas pressie for a 5-year old !!)

Hi,

My 5 year old has his heart set on a PSP for Xmas

As he's 5, it's only going to get dropped/drinks spilt on it/sticky finger marks etc, so one with a couple of dead pixels (as long as they aren't too noticeable) or a few scuffs on the back will be fine.

As long as it comes with the basics - memory card (any size), battery, charger, protective pouch etc - and is in it's original box, that'll be fine.

I don't really want to spend over £50-£60 (+ postage), so if some kind soul is thinking of getting rid of theirs due to dead pixels, or is upgrading to a Slim & Lite, please let me know.

If so, if you can post a few pictures of what you have to offer, and details of any marks/belmishes etc, that would be great.

I have a few things I can trade in some of my other threads to sweeten the deal, if need be.

In terms of games, he's in to the ususal - Cars, Lego Star Wars, Scooby Doo etc, so please no offers of GTA or Killzone !!

I've seen a couple of awesome PSPs go for about that price on here recently, so I'm hopeing someone can help me out

I will have one available for sale in a few weeks. It is in good condition and the only blemish is a small scratch on the UMD door. The screen is in perfect condition.

It is a 1.5 and will have just had a new screen fitted. Looking for around £70 + postage + paypal fees.

Thanks for letting me know. I'll bear it in mind, but it's currently a touch over what we can afford to spend on it.

Keep me posted when you do decide to sell though

OK no problem.

Just waiting on the replacement screen to arrive so I can fit it. Then I'll be selling as I've already bought a white slim. :)

He's also mad on Transformers, so would be after that game too. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Anyone ??

Might be worth trying to convince him that a Nintendo DS is much better

The PSP has poor controls, battery life, is really expensive and way overrated...

I myself just bought a PSP, only to get a full refund towards a DS because its just terrible...

DS has MANY more child friendly games also such as Nintendogs and the Mario franchises and many learning games which would be ideal

Plus a DS would come as cheap as £50 if you shopped around

definitely. I currently own a ds lite myself and i love it. owned a psp and its just not the same. The ds lite is far more kid-centric and would def be easier to use that a psp for a 5 year old.

I would agree that a DS would be better suited to a 5 year old but to say the PSP is terrible is very much your own opinion as I have one and I LOVE IT!!

Can watch movies, play arcade quality games, surf the net etc. and the screen quality is first class!

But then that's just MY opinion...

The PSP is a hell of a lot better than the DS.

The games are a lot better, and it can do so much more.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Appreciate what's been said about the DS being superior, but he's asked for a PSP and I don't want to dissapoint the little fella.

I've managed to pick up a boxed one from eBay now for £59, so only looking for suitable games if anyone has any.

hi mate,

have google for custom firmware, and you can put homebrew games on there and also emulators for all the old consoles too, you just need a big memory card £30 from play/amazon

My son is out at the moment, but i am pretty sure he has completed harry potter and the goblet of fire on psp, he might be interested in getting rid of it.

Hi

Thanks. Have already thought about putting custom firmware on there, but am still after a couple of games for him to open at Xmas too (I think he'd prefer to open those than a memory stick :-D )

Thanks again

Paul
