If your prepared to pay the amount you will have to from a decent breeder, you should be prepared to travel.
[mod]#3
Pick up a copy of Dog World or a similar magazine, there are always breeders listed. Or the yellow ads paper.

If you contact the kennel club there will give you a list of your nearest breeders. Probably best to get one of these from a well known breeder.

Are the rescue dogs puppies im a beginner in the world of animas so wanted a baby but i will get a rescue dog down the line
[mod]#14
You won't get an 8 week puppy from a rescue home, more likely they'll be adults.

Have a look on www.epupz.co.uk. Seem to be quite a few pug pups on there. Looks like you're going to have to shell out a grand though!:)

I got our Border terrier puppy from a breeder we found on there a few months back. Its a good site and if you are willing to wait, you will see the same ads and breeders. The usual puppy advice: make sure you see the puppy at home and with the parents & rest of the litter. Dont get too attached, be prepared to walk away if not 100% happy. And bargain - puppies need their vacinations @ 8 weeks and chipping too. If they are approaching this age and havent been 'done', you can probably save £100 on the breeders charge (because you'll have to pay this from the vet).

At our vets, Royal Canin were doing a deal where you buy 2 big bags of pupppy food and get the chipping done for free. It was about 3 months worth of food, but saved the £18 chipping fee.

Well round up everybody -- im going to see a pup on sunday (if the seller gets bk to me) £975 13 weeks old but he looks fantastic
#21
Your unlikely to get an 8week old in less then a month or so. Quality pedigree pups are hard to come by, on short time scales as breeders often have all pups reserved even before the birth.

I would really recommend you giving yourself more time as you want to make sure the pup you get is the right pup, not just the only one available on your time scale.

It can be hard but is worthwhile, trust me. I waited years for my dog trying to get the right one.

EDIT

Noticed you've managed to find a 13 week old one, good luck when you visit, and don't let your heart rule your head when you meet him (or her)
#22
Its 13 weeks old so im guessing it will have been chipped and wormed ----its had its injections and it looks cute i post a pik but atm i cnt get on the site as im using a work comp

Only thing im wondering is becos im a newbie

When does the pup need its next injections -- will it be too attached at 13 weeks and will it still be quite small ---- it is a pug

I just bought a book off amazon --- pugs for dummies and a dog training book so that will help a lot -- all i need now is food --leads --- tag--treats -- bowl ---- not getting a kennel because id never make a dog sleep outside

Just a couple of bits of advice from someone who has had a new puppy recently....

1. Consider getting yourself a puppy cage/crate (we got ours off ebay - seller's name was peteurope, highly recommended!). It's not cruel as some people will try and tell you, and your dog (and carpets!) will thank you for it. It will give the dog its own space where it will feel safe and secure, and cages are a brilliant way of house training your dog. Our pup loves his cage and still takes himself off there for a bit of peace and quiet when he's had enough fussing. Also, you're not going to need a huge cage like ours so it will be handy for keeping the dog safe and sound when you're out in the car.
Google "dog crates" for lots of good advice!

2. Check with your local vet to see if they hold "puppy parties" for newbies like yourself. They're a great way for pups to get socialised with other dogs and people.

3. Check out local dog training groups. A trained dog is a happy dog who knows his place in the "pack order" in your home. Even if you only go for a few weeks you'll be giving yourself a good start, and again, it's a great way for your dog to get used to other dogs.

Hope this was helpful. Good luck with your new addition and don't worry, your house won't smell of wee for too long.:giggle:

Oh, forgot to mention. We got our pup microchipped at a local Dogs Trust centre for £9.50. Well worth a visit if you've got one nearby, much cheaper than the vet and any profit is going to a good cause.
#26
get an alsation. those pug dogs dont seem to be able to do much. alsations can bring you beer and get the morning paper and also if ur getting attacked they will put there life on the line for you and obey only to you. think about it
