I need the above drive with model number: ST3250823AS

It has to be ST3250823AS only as I need to hopefully rescue data off disks

I need it as cheap as possible whether its a working dodgy one or a faulty one, either way i'll take a gamble..

hope someone has one..

And no, I'm not going to send off the persons drive to get a new one in warranty, before anyone decides to be funny

For this reason, i dont care about the serial number so dont post it.

Ahh mate, I had exactly the same drive die on me a couple of weeks ago! Luckily wasn't anything toooo important on there, just a bunch of TV episodes I had downloaded. I ended up getting a replacement in the end and decided to go for a Western Digital.

Good luck with your recovery. There's some great videos on youtube about hard drive recovery if you're looking for any pointers.

If you put a hard drive in the freezer for a few hours and then try and access it via another PC you can sometimes have successful results.

I have done it successfully in the past. Just an idea possibly.

Nah it was totally nackered, it must have over worked itself as the supporting arm had snpped for one, allowing the needles to go out of control when approaching the edge of the platters.

I just need one or two to try and get a few bits off

Costs a fortune for data recovery :/

do you need to let it defrost before trying to use it???

No - the point of putting it into the freezer lets it get to the coldest possible temperature as a lot of hard drive problems are caused because of overheating.

It will only let you access it (if it works) for a couple of minutes which is usually enough to get valuable data off of the drive.

ST3250820AS - I've got this, slightly different model number, but if your planning on using it for SATA etc then it should be fine as they havn't been that picky for many years now......any good to you?
