For my mum as a backup device. Doesn't need to be big, 40gb will be fine.

Looking to spend a max of £20 on this.
Shipping/Payment:
PP or BT fine with me
Location:
London

How about a 2.5" IDE drive with a IDE to Ian adapter? Think the drive is 40 or 60gb. Will let you know when I'm out of bath.

I need something that is USB powered, I suspect what you've just described is not? Please let me know...

Is it in a shell/enclosure? is it just a HDD with a cable attachment? Got a pic? Sorry for all the questions, it's just i need to ensure its the right thing for her (she can be clumsy due to her age)!

Cheers dude, last question (i promise!) - how secure is the IDE => USB adapter when plugged in? It's going to be dangling from quite a height, would I need to tape the two together?

You are actually going to have the drive unsupported...????

Yes, there is no surface for me to lay down the device onto, it would be suspended from the USB port. 2.5" drives are pretty light so i doubt it's going to be that bad - it's just that a proper solution incased may be more robust!

Its quite a snug fit at the connector (With ide drives having so many pins) and would easily support the weight (Lack of) of the drive if 'dangling' is necessary.

Hi mate, i assume the HD is in good condition, not failing or anything. If so, then i'll take it!

Thanks dude, will hang on to wait and hear what happens with above. Caddy would be ideal for her, but will drop you a PM either way!
