I steered clear of the i7 when I purchased because of the noise and heat issues that occur (as well as cost to performance ratio).

I used mine (although you would be getting the virtually unused replacement I received) to create artwork using Photoshop, Illustrator and DAZ Studio and I never felt I had a speed issue.

I have an i5 256GB 8GB, pen, type cover and case. Cover is grey though, but the case is a pleasant red and grey.

£750, but happy to negotiate, especially if you can pickup from Coventry.

I checked with her, she said that at around 20 layers the i5 is known to struggle - she works with in excess of 50 at times, so she's adamant that he needs the i7 to handle it.
thanks anyhow - am sure you will sell yours quickly

That's not my experience. I'm an illustrator and I often have files in excess of 50 layers. If you send me a file, I would be happy to video the experience I have.

just thinking, as I won't see her until tomorrow, have you anything similar that you could video yourself? that way when I get to see her tomorrow she could check it over immediately.
then if she's happy we can discuss details & we would most likely travel to you.

Awesome

Well, even though I haven't used the Surface for 3 weeks, it still had most of its battery, even though it's been in sleep mode. Here's a video I just uploaded to Youtube with a 20 megapixel image that I duplicated 100 times (just to be thorough) and made a bunch of adjustment layers as well. I also used a 400 pixel brush to show you how little it chugs (and Photoshop hates large brushes). The image expanded to 11GB of memory, which may not be clear in the video. As you can see there is no appreciable slowdown and this was with Photoshop running with Email, Browser and another graphics package still loaded in the background. It's a very capable device and the main reason I'm selling it on is to get a few readies for Christmas.

Let me know what you think.

well, I seen the YouTube video, must say personally I am surprised....no lag whatsoever.
She's always used imac or macbook pros, so she would know more than me.
I'll let her take a peek and get back to you ASAP.

thanks again, much appreciated

I'm a huge Apple nerd and this was the first Windows machine I've used since XP. Even I have been surprised at how decent the hardware is. I needed it as a portable Cintiq and it fulfilled that role excellently.

Any more questions let me know.

I still have the Surface available, if you're still interested.

hi,
sorry it's been a little crazy between myself not being too well & my daughter not turning up when she says! I did try to pm a reply but it said you weren't accepting any.
I have spoken to her & she was very impressed, that video really swayed her from spending over the top on the i7 version, we were both really shocked how well it handled with the amount of layers running, awesome bit of kit.

ok, she left a note for me as I was sleeping when she arrived this evening, she has decided to buy new from Microsoft so that she gets the full warranty, they have the offer of the same spec as yours £971 and they throw in an xbox one s, so in effect she will sell the xbox at around £220 unopened, and therefore only spend £750 for new with warranty - I noticed she was able to scrounge a keyboard in the blue she likes for £55 somewhere. also as a student she thinks that her unidays gives her an additional 10% off which covers the keyboard cost.

I am really sorry to mess you about, especially after you went to the trouble of the video (very much appreciated), but I can see why she would prefer the new with warranty etc.

I really hope that you sell yours quickly, it's an awesome purchase, if it wasn't for the current microsoft offer we would have taken it.

sorry,
Jam

I can understand your decision. I might be likely to do the same if I hadn't already got an Xbox. You might not be able to get the extra discount though. They don't usually stack with deals.

Good luck though.

P.S. I'll have to have a look at my settings. Didn't realise I couldn't get replies.

unidays don't allow the stacking, but after chatting with quidco they give 8.8% (better than a kick in the teeth).

I know I was able to reply to other members, but rejected by you... no hard feelings lol!!

have a great xmas
