I know but that cost £15.27 to get next day, or £12.50 if you wait a week and a bit. Just thought I'd try here first - someone might have one in a drawer...

Belkin, £9.99 Argos if you get stuck...

By the way, it might be your settings on your computer need updating. The new BT home hubs come programmed with WPA2 for security and only XP SP3 comes with support for WPA2 by default. There is a free patch from Microsoft to add the capability to XP SP2 but it will not work with any XP release before SP2.

Thanks for the steer but I've already switched down to WPA as the smartphone supplied by BT couldnt connect with the WPA2 setup. all the PCs are fine except the wifes (typical). Shes not getting my usb card and the kuids has a PCI so I'm not taking that to bits either !

rep added.

Thanks - if I get no traction here I will order on Sunday night. But all my current Network adapters have been picked up used and never had any issues (as long as you check the reviews!) - USB devices are generally pretty reliable ...

Not true, the belkn adapte is fully WEP/WPA/WPA2 compatible. I use them all the time and install many wireless networks.

To be honest, the Belkin adapter is a far superior wi-fi adapter compared to the Sweex (in my opinion) and for the same price too. Plus Belkin offer a full lifetime guarantee and replace with no hassle at all.

Had the same problem at a clients the other day. Had upgraded to BT home hub and for some reason the belkin dongle just wouldnt connect to the network. Ended up using a new Netgear one and everything was fine.

That's really strange. The Belkins should work spot on. The current firmware (which is not particually new) supports everything and it's usually the version of XP that causes the problems due to WPA2 not being supported before SP3 (unless SP2 patch). I'm surprised that BT decided to use WPA2 by default on their new hubs as it will not suit everyones computer specs. I install around 10 networks per month and always use the Belkin USB adapters when required and really have had no troubles at all.
