Looking to replace my 17" laptop with a very small and quiet desktop but looking for something more powerful that an Atom based nettop.

Looking for something like an HP DC7900 or IBM MS8 the type with the external laptop type power supply

Must be at least dual core and have dvd writer.

Let me know what you have and a price including delivery

Hi, I have a PC you may be interested in. It's a Philips Freevents LX2000 media PC.

Intel 1.6Ghz Dual Core CPU, new 500Gb WD Green disk, DVD-RW, wireless, digital TV Tuner, firewire, 5 x USB ports, card reader, Windows media centre remote control....but ONLY 275mm (W) x 240mm (D) x 50mm (H) due to external power supply. DVI out so capable of 1080p output to suitable TV/monitor.

Hard drive is a standard Sata 3.5" @ 7200rpm so better performace than usual 2.5" @ 5400rpm drives. Memory is standard laptop 200 pin so-dimm, DDR2. DVD-RW used is a standard slim laptop style.

Pop a monitor on it and you have your TV covered with time-shift recording as well as your desktop PC all in the one very small unit. And as its made by Philips as a media centre, won't look out of place in any living room.

Far better performance than the **** net-top everyone raves about on here.

Here's a selection of pics of the PC. There are a few but I wanted to let you fully see its condition, size and available ports.

The bundle will include all that you see here. The PC, its power supply, media centre remote & its IR receiver, aerial adapter and DVI to VGA adapter. There's also a 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable to output the sound to the TV, not in pictures (was still in my telly, oops).
And a restore DVD of the factory restore file copied off the original disk. And used to load the new 500Gb one...so I know it works.

In Situ
Front
Front Ports
Angled Front
Rear Ports
Accessories
Remote

It's a good looking and well built machine. Disk upgraded from 160Gb to 500Gb. Backup copy of original "Wim" file will also be supplied on DVD, with instructions on how to recover the operating system from it if ever necessary. Cost £999 new (list price was £1200!).

With a DVI to HDMI cable, it will output 1080p to a suitable monitor or TV.

I guess it's worth £200 all day long.

Less than an Acer Revo which it out performs and over-specs.

And if you are interested, I can get DVI to HDMI cables very reasonably, too, from a friend who sells them in his shop. Get the full potential out of the video.

TBH for a 1.6ghz processor this would be too slow for my needs

I am not after a media centre PC but a workstation / small desktop PC

oh and the highest I have seen one of these go on the unmentionable site is £120

thanks for the info however
