ceap cars are old bangers that within a couple of months end up costing you more then the actusal car cost in repairs.....far better to invest in a proper car then a heap of junk

Not always true. I have bought £500 cars for years, I run them for a couple of years spend minimal amounts to get them through mot and usually sell them and make a few quid to cover the repairs I have had done.

I found a £700 car for my brother 5 years ago, he is still running it and has only had to spend £200 on repairs. It has just passed its latest mot with flying colours.

If you know what you are doing and know what to look for, a cheap car can be a very affordable way to own a car. If you spend £3000 on a car and a serious problem occurs, you are in the poo. If a £500 car dies on you, at least you could drag it down the scrappies for £150 after stripping it for £200 worth of spares to sell on ebay!!!

So in my opinion,if you are broke, buy an old banger, but just make sure you have someone knowledgeable check out the car before you buy.

And don't forget, there are a lot of people that will try and sell you a car with a problem. To be honest I find ebay quite good as at least you can see who is an honest ebayer through feedback. I personally do not trust traders/garages and will not purchase from them, unfortunately there are too many cowboys out there. Good Luck OP

Surely if your bf's dad is a mechanic, i.e. in the trade, he can get him a car?

If your budget is low, how can he afford the insurance? As the insurance will be more than the car is worth.

I have a Citeron Saxo mate for sale 56500 miles its a V reg so really low mileage for its age. Passed MOT last Oct and taxed until April. Its Red and only problem with is is a dent in the drivers door where some idiot at the supermarket hit and drove off. (you could take the panel off and push this out though I suppose.)

looking for £850 for it mate

1999V Citroen Saxo Spree 4, 0954CC Petrol, 3DR, Manual - thats the spec.

Low petrol costs (well as low as possible nowadays)
Low Tax
Low insurance band

Darcy I will show my bf this later and let you know.

Just so everyones clear he is on a traders policy and pays yearly, his already paid that so it does not affect him buying a car. Why all the questions? I'm asking if anyone has a cheap car to sell that's all!

Sorry lammy only seen your link. It looks great. Let me show my bf later an I will getback to you xx

What on earth has this got to do with the price of cheese? So what if insurance costs more than the car? The girl is looking for a cheap little car, if you can't say something useful, don't say anything at all!
