Hi guys,

As above i'm looking for a very cheap laptop for my little bro to take to college to do his work on, plus surf the internet. It needs to be in good working order, with microsoft office on so that he can do his essays.

Obviously would like as best spec as possible, but it's only to be used for the above and has to be as cheap as possible.

Looking to spend somewhere between £50 and £100.

Let me know what you have!

Thanks,

Villan
Shipping/Payment:
Special delivery please due to value.

Can pick up from around Milton Keynes, Bolton and Scarborough (Get around lol!)

I have a medion / Microstar MID2020 laptop

Specs are

2.8ghz Celeron Processor
40gb Hard Drive
448 mb Ram (strange number - but will dbl check)
Genuine Win XP with serial.

There is a prob with the battery though in that it will not take a charge at all, but the laptop would make an ideal Desktop replacement.

Spares or repair regularly go on a famous auction site for around the £70 - 80 mark, so I am looking for £100 + delivery for this (courier would be about £8) as I know I can get more on that famous site :)

Anyway may not suit what you want but an option.

Cheers

I have a Toshiba Equium with XP installed. Not sure of the full spec lol, but I know it has a 40gb hard drive and 512mb of ram. Can get more info for you if you want it.
I can reinstall Office if that's what you're wanting it for.
It served me through two years of college and 3 years of uni.
Would be looking at the top end too. Probably £100 plus delivery (not sure what it would be for Special Delivery).

Got a Dell Latitude L400 700mhz PIII with 256mb RAM, running XP professional and Office 2007 - very small.

Processor type: Intel Pentium III
Clock speed: 700MHz
Ram: 256MB
Hard disk: 10GB
Dimensions: 272x220x26mm
Weight: 1.7kg
Screen size: 12.1in

Comes with seperate CD and floppy drives. Two batteries (pretty knackered) and a dell leather carry case

Two issues - one the catch that keeps it closed is broken and the left hinge is cracked.

Based in Reading £45 collection

Would consider partial trade for PS3 games or quality MP3 player

Sorry for this but mentioned to my mum that I wanted to sell it and now she wants it (for free of course!).
I'll keep you updated in case she changes her mind when she realises she doesn't know how to use it and has no need for it!

Actually its a 2.6ghz processor, will upload some pics just now.

There is a small crack appearing in the bottom corner of the external housing of the screen, seems to be more of a stress fracture than anything but doesn't affect anything, some light scratches on the top aswell.

Has DVD Rom drive but no inbuilt wireless, Ive been using it as a replacement desktop downstairs via homeplugs and its a really nice pc to work with. Has been returned to factory settings and I have literally just activated the XP.

Thanks Ali, looks a good option. Whereabouts are you based?

If pick up not viable, what would be your very best price delivered?
#13
I live in Glasgow so pick up would be a bit out of your way!

I would do it for £100 delivered

Hi mate,

Will have a word with my bro and see what he says. It looks the job to me.

How old is it and has it had any other probs than the battery?

Ta,

Villan
#15
Nope - no other issues other than the battery and the small fracture that I pictured, runs very well actually.

I reckon its about 4 yr old roughly.

No Probs

Hey birdy,

It may be a little above his price range, only looking to spend £100 tops. Would have been ideal in MK tho!

Out of interest what is the lowest you would accept?

Lowest I would go is about £160...

Hi Birdy/Ali,

I have spoken with my brother and he is interested in both laptops. As Birdy's is in MK, I would like to go have a look at that one this evening, with a view to a potential cash transaction. I have sent a PM in this regard to get address etc.

Ali, if the above is not satisfactory, my bro has indicated that he would like to buy yours. I hope that you don't mind the messing around, and I will let you know one way or the other this evening, so that if it is a no from me you can strike a deal with Rumela.

Thanks all for the positive responses.

Villan.

No probs,

If villan doesnt want it then I shall start my own thread to keep all things above board :), just so you are aware in advance though that as mentioned previously the battery doesnt work on the Laptop and it has to run from mains.
#29
im aware of that but everything else is ok isnt it? its for my sis.
#30
Hi all,

Quick update, I have bought the laptop from Birdyboy, therefore will not require Ali's.

Thank you Ali for your patience and hopefully you will sell it to Rumela.

Regards,

Villan
