Hi hun, thanks for the response, cheers, could you post a pic for me please? Also what size is the hardrive?
Thank you :o) x
Hi hun, that sounds good, how much ram does it have and does it have wireless capabilities? If not then could it go online with a wire or a dongle?
Cheers :o) x
Hi hun, charger isn't a problem, I have a couple of spares that might fit it hopefully, could I have a pic please? Also can it connect to the internet, and if so is it wireless?
Thanks in advance x

Hey hun, was V interesyted in this but I've just realised that it's a netbook, I presume it hasn't got a disk drive? It's my little girl's birthday soon and all she really wants is her own laptop, she's only very young and all she will do with it is play games on the cbeebies website and on these (over 10 yrs old) educationasl cd-roms that she loves that were my nieces, they're very basic spelling/numeracy/logic games that have a minimum requirement of Windows 95/98 and a full 15mg ram (bless) so unless it has a disc drive it probably isn't suitable but thanks anyway, if it has got a disk drive then that's another story....:o)

Hey hun, just realised after looking at your link that I don't think it has a disc drive, would that be right? If not it wouldn't be suitable (see above) but thanks anyway :o)
Hi hun, if the price is right then it may be just what I'm looking for, so long as it has a disk drive then it should be fine, I'll go for something better if there isn't a big jump in the price but all I really need is what most people would deem a heap o' junk lol. Being able to go online would be a plus though.
Looking forward to seeing pics and if you have any idea of the specs it'd be appreciated.
Cheers hun x

Oh and again being honest, if it is for a website, it may not be the best, in fact it won't be good at all.

It has atleast 512MB RAM and I'll include the wireless PCMCIA card which II use with it, so has wireless G and also has a LAN port so you could plug in a wire or use a dongle via the usb port. It also has CDRW/DVD ROM drive too....battery lasts about 40 mins these days. Delivery would be by collect plus.

Okay, sorry but what is a pcmcia and wireless g? Sorry for being such a div.
Also how does that odd looking mouse pad thing work? I can only see the buttons, is the pad underneath them?
Cheers :o) x

PCMCIA is like a USB dongle that gives it wireless capability. Wireless G is the speed of the card, so it should be fine for what you need. The red 'nipple' you can see near the B key is the mouse pointer (as opposed to having a pad), you get used to it quite quickly, my nephew is 10 and he uses it fine.
Also as a business class laptop it has a much stronger chassis (titanium alloy) than the likes of the "high street" consumer ones.
Centrino CPU and running Flash 11.3 ...... This one will be able to browse web sites!
But, if not, best of luck with your search.

i have an old laptop. roughly 12 years old, PIII 500MHZ with a floppy drive and a CD drive and a 20gb hard drive. it is heavy but worked OK last time I used it (the battery even held charge). i think the only problem with it is that the CMOS battery is flat so it needs to be replaced or you just have to reset the time every time you turn it on (not a huge hassle, i've been doing it for years!)
it's currently at the office so i can't take a picture right now.
however, the bolded bit in your quote above concerns me a little. a lot of the games on the cbeebies website are Flash games that are very tough on the processor and have high memory requirements. if you try to run them on 15 year old hardware you're going to be spending a lot of time staring at mister maker's face while you wait for the frame to change!
for the price, and if you need a CD drive built in, the IBM above is probably your best choice, although the dell sounds good too. if you have access to a CD drive on another computer you could probably put all the CD files onto a USB drive and run them that way.
not a great salesman really, am i? :p

A toshiba portege 7020ct or a toshiba portege 7220ct, both have the dvd dock, i only have one hard drive so you need to pick which one, unless you have a spare hard drive?
7020ct
Pentium 2 processor 366mhz
13.3inch screen
not wireless
7220ct
Pentium 3 processor 650 mhz
13.3inch screen
wireless via a pcmcia card
unfortunately occasionally a thin line appears on the display
20gb hard drive
at least 128mb ram (maybe more, will need to check)
runs windows xp fine
both of them are very thin, they were very expensive new, the original business class netbooks of the time.
I have spare batteries but they are all dead, the charger i had for it has come apart so no charger for them, i can include this as it is repairable.
£35 delivered or both with both docks for £55 delivered
the both look like this:
