I have some small cassettes (don't know the actual name of them, but they come from my old camcorder) and I want to play them on my VHS player. But I need one of those VHS cassette shape adapter/converter.

If anyone has one laying around, or knows where to get one cheap, please let me know.

The above is just a picture for reference, but it shows sort of what I'm looking for. You place the small cassette in, and you can insert all of that into your VHS player to play your mini camcorder cassette.

Thanks!

think first step is to find out the exact format of your old tapes, the above adaptor does vhs-c tapes according to google.
also from google there is no hi8 (from your tags) to vhs adaptor but thats google so maybe was something missed.
no way of transferring it onto a pc then putting onto dvd? or is the vhs part essential? (or just for convenience?)

If the camera is an old JVC its definetley the VHS-C tape like above.

As far as I know they are the only tape converters you can get due to the width of the tape ribbon actually being the same as a standard VHS tape. All that adapter does is by battery operated motor, 2 pins extend the actually tape ribbon by pulling it away from the spool in order to make it reach a VHS head when inserted into the player.

8mm and Hi-8 cannot be played in a VHS player the head height and dimensions of the actual tape ribbon are all wrong.

Yeah I think my mini-tapes were the original JVC ones (I remember having a JVC camcorder... will have to check and confirm)

I can't get them onto the computer cuz I don't have the camcorder anymore. But I still have the tapes... which I want to play on my VHS player -- and then transfer them onto Disc.

So really, I only need it for a week or so until I'm done the transfer and I can get rid of the mini-tapes.
