not exactly cheap
#3
get a Blu-Ray disc drive for you pc?

Aside from that i believe the next best thing is the ps3...probly only £40 dearer than the cheapest Blu-Ray player but far superior

Im out of my depth here though as i have neither a Blu-Ray player nor a PS3 so i'll let others help ya make up ur mind :P

are they really tht exspensive?
#6
Yeh they are the latest thing. You could wait till 27th August for the 80gb PS3, will be £300 so expect a price drop on the 40gb around that time
#7
well i will have to wait then me thinks. cant reason buying a ps3 when i have a 360 so ill guess ill do without or wait until they seriously drop in price, i will keep my eyes scanned for deals

Seems a reasonable price, especially for a Samsung..£187.46 delivered.

Upgradeable firmware so thats not an issue.

£180 at some shop in the POST paper
if that helps :-D

Make sure you got a Blu-Ray Player with updatable firmware or your have to buy a new player each time a new profile for blu-ray is released!
Aka Blu-ray Profile 2.0 is the current profile but it will always get updated which is why the PS3 is one of the best players as its future-proof.

Who gives a s...? It's one of the most affordable and functional Blu-Ray players about!
#16
yer i dont have many dvd's but i have just bought a new tv so i thought i would get a bluray player but i dont think i will bother at these prices
#17
if i was going to get one i would have to buy the ps3 i think because it seems the only sensible solution
#18
I dont think <£190 is that bad for a Blu-Ray player really...

If you have an ok pc buy a hddvd/blu ray combo which is what I did. They are £70 inc delivery at Scan.

but when you can get a ps3 for about 200 is seems a bit high considering a ps3 is so much more

yer i have on ebay the other day
#24
lappys with blue ray are £800+ for good specs so i think you would have to save a lots more.Might as well get the ps3 with some game bundle and sell games here or at fella bay and get some money off your"blue ray player" effectively making it cheaper then stand alone players
#25
i will probably go without i think, until they come down in price
#26
Currently the ps3 is the best bluray player for the new features and future compatability otherwise if you just want the basic films anything with a hdmi socket would suit most people.

Either way one here for £170

Like anything these will always drop in price, the blu-ray players may be £200 now but when the came out they were over £500 so wait a year or so and they'll be nearer £100 than £200, it's always just a waiting game with technology and only you can decide when the time is right to buy!

Personally I'm waiting for the PS3 to drop to £100 then I'll get one!
#28
You could always pick up a second hand ps3 or wait until choicesuk have a clearout like they did before at £200 for a customer return or about £250 for a box damage one.
#29
Just posted the deal £199.99 customer return at choices
