Great bundle.

How old is the console itself?

Thin Film Transistor [TFT] Liquid Crystal Display [LCD] screen components made by Sharp were initially used in the original PSP's sold in Japan (late 2004 to mid-2005), as opposed to lesser-quality Samsung screens used elsewhere in the world.

Now all regions have the Samsung-branded TFT LCD screens in the original ("fat & heavy") PSP units.

As an aside, each "fat & heavy" PSP unit bears a model reference to indicate which region the unit was designed for, as well as a "Date Code" (to signify manufacture date). The "Date Code" may well be absent if this a later model.

The regional references are below for your information. Perhaps you could open the battery compartment & check which reference is printed & also the Date Code?

* PSP1000 - Japan
* PSP1001 - USA
* PSP1002 - Australia
* PSP1003 - United Kingdom
* PSP1004 - Europe, Middle East, & Africa
* PSP1005 - Korea
* PSP1006 - Hong Kong
* PSP1007 - Taiwan
* PSP1008 - Russia
* PSP1009 - China

If you have a true Japanese 1.50/1.51/1.52 firmware model, it will have reference "PSP-1001" & a Date Code of "5A" Or "5B" (and Motherboard "TA-79").

Is it possible to see some photos of the screen both on & off?

And also around the Universal Media Drive (UMD) door [as this often gets scratched whilst putting discs in & out, and placing the console on a hard surface]?

With the screen on, a photo of the XMB (Cross Media Bar) screen, & also of the System Information screen showing the firmware release information (and the MAC address) would be very useful.

You can obscure your username (digitally) if you feel concerned about showing that.

Thanks for your time.

Hey Fanpages,

Ive had the console since launch, so am pretty sure its from the first batch I originally got it from Lik-Sang :-D

At work at the moment, but will happily check the psp when I get home and take some pics and give you the answers to your questions above its basically in mint condition as I never get to play it!

Were you after a straight purchase or some sort of trade in deal?

Cheers

Hey Hu5tler,

What condition / colour is it? I have a 80gb ipod video so to be honest you'd have to offer something in addition based on fleabay / used prices.

Thanks for your time this evening.

OK... here's my thoughts...

You seem a genuine seller, and you have been willing to take photos & respond to queries, so I am presuming that all is well with the console.

The new "Slim & Lite" PSP model is due out in a few weeks in the UK (and already available via import from Japan) & will retail at £129.99.

Toys 'R' Us currently have a bundled old "Fat & Heavy" PSP with a Soundstation device for £99.99 (may be out of stock online, but in-store they are all available). Argos is selling the limited edition P!nk variety for £99.99 on it's own (well, apart from the artist content that is in the pack already).

I'm not too fussed about the 3 UMD games, or the 2 memory cards, and would probably re-sell the games anyway.

Would you consider splitting your offer, and selling the console on its own or, with the complete value pack contents (case, headphones, 64mb memory stick, charger/adapter)?

I already have a Japanese PSP with official Sony firmware, but a later model, the metallic blue one released in December last year; so the Sharp TFT screen is the major attraction for me here.

I also have a UK PSP with Dark_AleX firmware installed, so I'm aware of the advantages your machine offers.

I value your time & appreciate your consideration, and certainly expect that if you can get an interested party for the whole bundle on offer for a price you're happy with then you will go for that in preference.

But... if you could spare a thought to an expectation on price for console, &/or console with value pack contents, then you could get a verified PayPal buyer with trading history (on eBay since 1999, & a little here at HotUKDeals) to secure a deal.

Thanks for reading, and good luck in whatever you choose to do. No hard feelings if you opt to leave my suggestion for a while, but please come back to me if you need/want to.

BFN,

fp.

Thats actually the best suggestion anyone has made so far! an yes Id be willing to split it and do the value pack for you least from your questions and comments I know it would goto a good home! I have also been on ebay for a long time (about 4 years I think) so am fully paypal verified etc but of course am happy to provide any details you want before going ahead with a deal.

Lynchpin I guess is how much are you offering for the psp with value pack?
#21
would you consider an offer of £80 for the console & 2gb memory stick? i don't really want the games as would be upgrading to m33 anyway and using the homebrew/ps3 compatibilty only.

really want a white console and been trying to get one from toys r us but they only seem to be getting black/pink in stock!

Toys 'R' Us had white ones available online this week, but you're right, they are now sold out.

I saw you offer a similar price on another white Japanese PSP with a 2GB Memory Card here at HotUKDeals. If either party accepts your offer, let me know, and I can make a decision on the one you don't want.

Thanks.

Thanks for the offer, but it is a little low considering what you'd be getting, having said that I would let the psp with value pack and 1gb mem stick go for £100 if thats something your interested in? tho Fanpages did ask for info and start offering first so would get first refusal.

Hi again,

£100 is perhaps a little more than I was looking at, so if anybody wishes to accept that price, then please trade accordingly.

I'll be out until mid-afternoon, and will check back then to see if the console & any accessories have gone, though.

Hope you find a seller (soon) as it does sound like you have looked after this example of the initial Japanese consoles.

Fingers-crossed...

How about £100 for everything except the 3 game titles, to be delivered by Special Delivery & Payment by PayPal?

(You could then sell those for, maybe, a fiver each, and nearly reach your original expectation on price)

And on behalf of a contact who is trying to register with HotUKDeals at this time (just awaiting confirmation e-mail), he would like to offer £105 for the entire bundle as quoted in your original post:

This genuinely interested party has "a fully qualified Paypal account (currently have 166 all positive feedback on eBay)".

Hopefully by the time you come back to read this message he will have access & you can discuss directly.

Hi all,

I've finally managed to get the confirmation email so I can post!

:-D

Fp has kindly forwarded my offer of £105 for the entire bundle as quoted in your original post.

If this is acceptable please let me know and I can arrange to get payment to you.

As a side note, the PSP is actually a present for my Son and it would be great to get it to him before we go on holiday for a week on Wed!

I hope this might be possible.

Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you

Hi Stu,

Welcome to hotukdeals, glad you finally got registered :)

Sorry to both of you though, for the £100 / £105 your offering the best I can do is the psp value pack, and the 1gb card thrown in too. Failing that its going on flebay and gumtree.. prob to fund purchase of a xbox elite!

Will leave it a day or so just incase others watching want to throw in a bid.. an to give you a chance to re-offer if you like :)

Gd luck with the psp hunt if you dont get mine!
#31
Hi again!

Could another £5 seal the deal?

:thumbsup:

£110 for the full package?

If you are sticking to your original £120 for the full bundle then no worries, I can't really go over £110!!

Many thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers

D'oh!

An offer of £110 would probably count me out, Prodigy, so if you & Stuphew can deal at that, then please do so. I know he is desperate to find one today, so may offer elsewhere (or even buy new), so there's always hope (for me!).

That said, I'm (apparently) taking some of my kids to the ice rink, and one of them bowling, in half an hour, and I'll probably be out until 3-4pm, so if you two strike [see what I did there? :)] a deal whilst I'm out, that's fine; from my exchanges with Stuphew I know your console & kit will go to a good home.

As an aside, I got my dates muddled... the new PSP "Slim & Lite" is actually out in the UK this coming Friday (14 September 2007), so I would expect HotUKDeals, eBay, trade-in exchanges at GAME(Station)/BlockBuster, Cex.co.uk, and other online forums to be flooded with pre-loved older "Fat & Heavy" models in the next few weeks, as people trade-up to the redesigned model (with improved battery life, larger on-board RAM for faster loading times, reduced weight [by 33%], slimmer design [by 19%], video out port for TV viewing, improved D-Pad/buttons, and removal of the infra-red port... that's progress for you!).

Best wishes to both of you. I hope you can reach a mutually beneficial position later today.

Hey Stu,

Where abouts in the uk are you? £110 for a cash on pickup for the package, but without the 2gb mem stick would be a deal (mostly due to savings in postage and paypal fees)

Let me know if thats gd for you :)

Depends what your offering on fanpages, you still didn't make a price offer for the bits you were interested in (i,e console with value pack) depending on the offer it still may be preferable to split the package and sell the bits seperatley.

Hi again,

I'm located in Surrey but due to work I'm not sure I'll be able to have the time to meet up

:-(

Unfortunately I cannot go higher than £110, I should be able to do a bank transfer if that will help with fees.

I was really only looking for the PSP console & charger, and probably just the official headphones, but they weren't absolutely a deal-breaker.

I know 'Stu' would like the whole bundle, but if you cannot deal on the price suggested, may I ask you to quote your best price for the following?...

a) PSP console + charger
b) PSP console/charger + headphones
c) PSP console/charger + 2GB Memory card
d) PSP console/charger + 2GB Memory card + headphones

Thanks.

Hi there,

A quick update...

If my offer of £110 via Bank transfer is accepted, please can you let me know as soon as possible as I really need the console in hand (or at least my Son does!) by Wed before we go on holiday for a week.

:)

I just want to ensure I clear everything with my bank in good time!

Hi Stu,

Not sure if we'll be able to deal in time based on the time its all taking so far.. did state earlier in the thread that if not done soon it's going on fleabay etc.

Guess your offer would have to include next day insured delivery if you want it that quickly too.. which is bound to cost at least a tenner :(

Hi,

Here's two links to help calculate Special Delivery...

Before 9am delivery:

[ http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump2?catId=400028&mediaId=400025 ]

...or Next Day delivery:

[ http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump2?catId=400028&mediaId=400026 ]

Hope they help you both.

[Look... I'm interested in adding to my collection & helping you two make a deal. Am I mad? ;) Don't answer that.]

Hi fp / Prodigy,

Thanks for all your help with this purchase.

:)

Prodigy - based on fp's update can you let me know your final price's for the following combinations:-

1 - Complete package inc next day delivery
2 - PSP console/charger + 2GB Mem card inc next day delivery
3 - PSP console/charger + 2GB Mem card + headphones inc next day delivery

I'd love to purchase the full package but maybe leaving out the games may lower the price a little?

Cheers and look forward to your reply
Stu
