bought my daughter a new laptop for her birthday (today) knowing it had vista on it, so bought win7 upgrade from Pugh (via this site) which duly arrived but when I went to load it it says " you cannot upgrade from vista basic to windows 7 professional" I can only upgrade to family premium or something, but I can apparently do a full install using this disc but thats a bit too much for me to handle, figure i will sell this and buy another (correct ) upgrade disc. or sell for £30 inc postage

anyone want to swap? or i'll sell for £30 inc postage

link to how to do full upgrade below

It seems a bit mean to take advantage though. Are you sure you don't want to try the full install? It's easy especially if it's a new laptop without lots of data.

nooooooo! spent ages today putting on updates and office 2007, then kaspersky which took ages cos macfee was being sneaky and was not completely removed, so no a complete install would be apain

If you want to upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista Home Basic you need either Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Ultimate.

The full price for a Windows 7 Professional Upgrade is over £100 so if you sold it for £30 they got a good deal.

Here it is on the Tesco web site for £139 new.
