Right i currently have a NETGEAR usb adapter WPN111 on my PC and i always always get a low signal that goes loses signal aswell! Im sat by this Netgear dongle with my laptop which has a built in card, and my laptop always has full signal and never cuts out! Both using XP pro and both connecting to the homehub downstairs.

Now then what im after is a more powerful dongle for my PC that will make sure i keep a HIGH connection, happy to pay around £30 for it. So tell me what ya got!

or im also after any advice on if there is anything i can do with the current adapter or why the current adapter has such poor performance, OR what one would you recommend i get

Any info would be great, many thanks!

I'd start with replacing the home hub

You can use Usb extension lead to get the dongle as far away from the PC as possible. This can often make a big difference.

Have you though about using home plugs? (assuming your PC has an Ethernet card) I had similar problems with my desktop so went for some home plugs. Requires a spare socket on your hub (don't know anything about the BT home hubs) network cable and a near by power socket, you plug one end of the network cable into the hub, the other end into the homeplug and plug it into the mains socket. then you need another socket near your pc and another network cable, plug the network cable into your computer and the other end in the home plug, home plug into socket... no more dropping of internet!

I have the www.solwise.co.uk black 85 Mbps and the work a dream... got them from ebay I think paid around £39.99 for two - you need a pair for them to work.

Hope that helps... another option at least!

hey sorry!!! i misread, that sounds pretty darn good!!! how good is it?!, i got a spare plug, and spare ethernet port on PC and Homehub! just to confirm..... i dont need a phoneline near my pc????

no phone line required at and for me it works great, speeds are just fine and I download a lot of stuff connection is always there never drops, as long as the modem/router is left on I just switch the PC on and I'm instantly online.

I have my modem/router under the telly in the front room, a network (RJ45 cable) going from router to homeplug which is plugged into a socket behind the TV... all wires behind the TV out of sight with other wires.

I then had upstairs.. now in the dining room the computer with another homeplug plugged into the socket under the computer desk with a network cable plugged into it going to the network card in the back of the PC.

Internet is carried over the electricity lines... you can add more home plugs if you wish in any number but you must have two initial ones to start off.

Edit: yes that kind of thing.... but the ones I have are item number 320261983057 - search solwise homeplug, devolo is another good brand

Edit 2: if you do go for home plugs make sure you the 85 Mbps not the lower rated 14Mbps ones which aren't so good!
